I read that too. That is another reason that they can't let Jones off the hook. I tend to be very wary of libel and defamation cases because of their chilling effect of freedom of speech and the press. But freedom of speech does have limits and malicious speech is dangerous.

Jones enormously profited by promoting this and other wild ass conspiracy theories to the detriment of our society and needs to be held accountable. He had no reason at all to believe that his hoax claim was true, but that didn't matter at all. This is the vey definition of malice.

Although the other polls all show more people disapprove of Trump, it still scares me that there are that many people out there who approve of him. You're from Coos Bay? I spent about 3 weeks in around there the last 2 years. I love Charleston and Bandon....not to mention the dunes. I was hoping to head your way in a couple of weeks.....But I'm more partial to Brookings and Gold Beach.

I love Brookings and Harris Beach State Park.
As a kid,we used to spend a week their each summer..and I still go there on occasion to camp out for a few days.

One commentator made the point that the foundation of Trump's success is not that he persuaded his supporters to believe him, but rather that he told them what they already believed. That's why so many of them keep saying "He talks like a real person," "He tells it like it is," etc. They didn't join him; he joined them. What we recognize as lies are what his supporters believe to be true.

So, US steel reopened 1 (of 2) blast furnaces in a plant near Pittsburgh. Some 500 jobs, sure. Buts that’s a less than 2% increase in steel job in PA. Not exactly what I would call “BIG WAY!” Especially when other industries now must suffer the effects of the tariffs.

Heck, a lot of plants, such as those in Allentown, were converted to other purposes since folks realized steel likely wasn’t coming back.

As a kid,we used to spend a week their each summer..and I still go there on occasion to camp out for a few days.

A little North of there is the Samuel Boardman Scenic Corridor and there are fabulous hikes. I'm very partial to Secret Beach.

... sitting here parked by the bay... looking at a ~35 foot sailboat stuck on the mud a couple hundred yards across the water. If what I found online is the one... it was stolen by a homeless dude and run aground (amud) two months ago.
Damn... come haul that thing out ya bastards.

I like this spot... the large tugs do staging/practice/training right in front of me. It's like a ballet.

Sort of OT, but the new Dinedh D Souza movie compares Donald Trump to Abraham Lincoln, and the Democratic Party to the Nazis.
It's sad in a way.D' Souza so want to be a mover and shaker in the far right but that he is of Indian (as in Asia) descent and has a brown skin guarentees he will never be accepted by the far right. Guy is a study in self hate,since eh never speaks of his Indian heritage without a air of contempt.
