Madonna suggests Donald Trump motivated her move to Portugal

Madonna suggested in a new interview that she relocated her family from their Manhattan base across the Atlantic Ocean to Portugal to escape Donald Trump.

The singer spoke to Vogue Italia about the motivation behind her big move saying "this is not America's finest hour."

"I felt like we needed a change, and I wanted to get out of America for a minute," the singer told the magazine.

Thank you, President Trump. Well done, sir. America owes you a great debt of gratitude. Hopefully, Rosie and Whoopi will follow suit.

As bad as Trump is, he's not Hitler. But he certainly has borrowed propaganda tactics straight from Hitler and Goebbels though.

Thank Cthulhu Trump is 72 because the scary way he eggs on a crowd, I think he could end up with a dangerous following if he were doing this 20-30 years ago and had a decade to work on it.

It's Trump having a Bush Sr. white privilege moment. Arrest Donnie at his next rally. Empty his pockets. There will be no money. Other people need money. He pays for nothing directly. Like Bush being awed by scanners, this is Trump's indication as to how far divorced from the feebs who support him he is.

(He also thinks a credit card is "ID".)
And I guess he thinks you have pictures on your credit cards or you have to show your driver's license to use one.

On a related point, pre-trial motions were heard today in the Alex Jones defamation case. He is being sued by a few of the Sandy Hook victims parents. Jones heavily promoted that it was government hoax and that the children were actors. Today, his lawyers asked that the case be dropped because it wasn't defamation, but protected speech.

I think this is an easy call. It's not protected speech. These parents and their children are not political actors or public figures and Jones acted with malice. He knew what he was saying had no basis in fact, he just pulled it from his ass because the crazy right wingers would eat it up.

The families got death threats from the Infowars crazies.

At some stage, if it hasn't happened already, like any addict, it will start to lose its effect. The people arranging his fix must surely have considered this.

More rallies with bigger crowds and bigger lies. As long as that crowd is reacting to Trump, his ego is getting fed. It will only wear out if they don't respond to dear leader with the appropriate amount of adulation.

Her Majesty carries no money; why should Trump be any different. (I have always wondered what would happen if you ever asked her for photo id; would she pull out a stamp or just flick you a penny! As an aside I was recently applying on line for a Canadian visa - there was a little note on line to say Her Majesty did not require a visa - I rather liked the idea that she had been on line applying for a visa "Phillip it says here I don't need a visa to visit my Canadian realm".)

Republicans block $250 million to beef up election security
WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans blocked a Democratic push Wednesday that would have provided $250 million to beef up election security.

The money would have been doled out in grants through the Federal Election Assistance Commission and helped, among other things, replace outdated voting equipment and increase cybersecurity efforts.

But the amendment failed Wednesday on a 50-49 vote, 10 votes shy of the 60 needed for it to pass. The votes fell almost entirely on party lines as only one Republican — Sen. Bob Corker (Tenn.) — voted for the grant.

"The integrity of our elections, which are the foundation of our democracy, should not be a partisan issue," Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), who proposed the amendment, said in a statement. "It is unfortunate that the Senate has followed the same path as House Republicans in blocking the funding our states need to help upgrade their infrastructure and secure our elections."

Last month House Republicans similarly blocked an effort for $380 million to bolster election security efforts.

Crystal clear: Republicans are fascist enemies of democracy, looking for an easy leg up by conspiring with enemies to undermine the Republic. Anything for coin, anything. Trouser-dropping cowards.

In the antebellum South, the most vehemently racist people were usually poor whites who did not even own slaves. Why did they support the slave system that really DID take their jobs away? Because it gave them someone to feel superior to. As long as there was someone who was held in even lower regard than they were, they could feel better about themselves. It's the same with Trump's base who tend to be lower income white males. Illegal immigrants and Muslims are their new Blacks.

It's why we have Hartlepool.

Trump Tweets

"Charles Koch of Koch Brothers, who claims to be giving away millions of dollars to politicians even though I know very few who have seen this (?), now makes the ridiculous statement that what President Trump is doing is unfair to “foreign workers.” He is correct, AMERICA FIRST!"

Trump Tweets

"Wow, @foxandfriends is blowing away the competition in the morning ratings. Morning Joe is a dead show with very few people watching and sadly, Fake News CNN is also doing poorly. Too much hate and inaccurately reported stories - too predictable!"

Because what everyone needs from their elected head of state is TV ratings analysis.

Question: Could Obama have shut down Trump early by reacting with immediate outrage when Trump first accused him of not being American (which many understood really meant "this n-word don't belong in our White House)?" An ex-Obama staffer said recently that the traditional political practice was to ignore crazy charges rather than give them more weight by responding. But in the internet age, that just allows them to gather more weight and power. This went on for years, and then Obama looked weak when he finally made a special request to Hawaiian authorities for his original birth certificate. If he had handled it differently, would Trump have gotten any traction?

I think the key would have been that instead of defending against it, use it as an attack point for how crazy Republicans are that they could make or believe such an allegation.

How about a Mastercard?
I had just been mentally comparing the probable contents of Trump's wallet to those of Liz's purse before reading this.
