Despite my current near-despair over the state of the Republican party, I don't consider myself a Democrat. In my fantasy world, I want to see (at least) 2 good political parties in the US. I'd like to have a presidential election where I had to choose the better of two good options, not the less-awful of two bad options.



A Republican repudiation of Trump would, IMO, be a sign that the Republican party is recovering, and I would welcome that.

I'd prefer if it were a moderate, slightly left of center individual, someone who will reverse Trump's lunacy but not promote a strong backlash. Just on the off chance that an idiot Trump supporter could say "Hey, a Democrat got elected and the world didn't collapse. Maybe I should give them a chance next time".



But then, Obama governed pretty much from a moderate position and still got condemned for "taking our guns and giving us death panels" (neither of which he did), so what do I know?

Ok well, for me a progressive doesn’t mean left wing. There’s no reason I think a republican could not be a progressive.

I may not be using the term correctly, but for me a progressive is someone who doesn’t want to throw us back to white right Christian values like the “good ol days”. For me Obama was a progressive both on climate change and Obamacare.

Dershowitz is NOT a Liberal Democrat, nor is he a brilliant lawyer. Like Giuliani, Dershowitz traded his shingle in to be a whore. TBD complains that Avenatti is thirsty for attention but he pales in comparison to the ludicrous commentary Dershowitz has made over the years just to appear on TV. Those who know the Meredith Kercher/Amanda Knox case remember his ill-informed ignorant remarks that he tried to pass off as expert.

I remember his claiming there was so much evidence against Knox. Funny how the Italian Supreme Court disagreed with him when they definitively acquitted her.

He knew virtually nothing about the case. His argument that Trump wasn't obstructing and continues to obstruct justice to this day is absurd. Trump contacted virtually everyone trying to derail a potential investigation into Flynn and Russia.

Every Trump tweet that this is a witch hunt is all about poisoning a jury pool which is jury tampering. Dershowitz like Trump is a self centered egotistical jerk who will do anything to appear on TV.
 
According to a story on CNN, Trump knew in advance of the Trump tower meeting between Trump Jr and the Russians. He also knew the meeting was to get dirt on Clinton from the Russians.

According to Michael Cohen, who says he was there when Trump was told about it, Trump said to go ahead and do it.
