More from Mills on July 20:
A whole second before self destruction!
I'm not sure if that should be considered a success or a failure in a device designed to burn it self out in as flashy a manner as possible.
He appears to have a very low threshold for *run* in "a design that can run", when it kills itself in a second. That sounds an awful lot like "not running" in normal language:
"My car is great! It accelerates ferociously for about one second!"
"Oh? What happens then?"
"One or more pistons explode out the side of the block and take out the suspension towers and sometimes the master brake cylinder, from which point the car crashes into something nearby. Right up until that point, though, it runs *perfectly*."
Now before you criticise me being too harsh on Mills, you need to remember that he's not exploring the outer edge of physics or experimenting - he's trying to get it production-ready. He's said so many times....
