The Trump/Putin summit predictions thread

Wall, no one predicted the Russian MoD telling the world it's ready to implement an agreement on international security that Putin and Trump reached in secret.

At first I thought that photograph was a hoax. It's real, right?!

Excellent question to ask! If I had seen it in a Facebook post I would have assumed it was a fake. But I saw it in a freeze-frame capture on cable news and they addressed it directly, lending it more credibility.

I am not a big fan of Ronald Reagan, but I do think that Reagan is turning over in his grave at a lot of what Trump is doing.

Indeed, the mental gymnastics that Hannity would have to go through in order to make it seem like Trump is doing what Reagan would do as far as abandoning NATO allies because it might be dangerous, would be entertaining.

It is sort of sad. Like you I'm not a huge fan of Reagan but given how the Bushes have responded to Trump I doubt he would be any more forgiving.

To a broader sense even at my still relatively young age while I can't remember a time when I would have supported the Republicans as my primary preferred party I can remember a time when they weren't crazy. When they at least were an understandable counter to the Democrats, someone I didn't agree with but at least could look at and go "Okay I at least sorta see where you are coming from."

He'd question the continued necessity of NATO given that Russia is no longer under the rule of evil communists. Criminal oligarchies ruled by an evil dictator are no big deal.

I'm telling you now, the fact that the Russians are anxious to implement the agreement tells us what they think about it. They are loving it!

Meanwhile, grownups in the White House are asking, "What did you do?"

Assumed facts not in evidence IMO.

Does that include criminal oligarchies that invade their neighbors and launch cyberattacks or active destabilizing campaigns against the U.S.?
Why wouldn't it? They're white and not communist. They're practically the good guys!

And the first result of the secret meeting came out last night in an interview with Tucker Carlson.

Trump said Montenegro could be the cause of WWIII. Do you think Putin told him that in their secret meeting? I do. I doubt Trump knew jack about Montenegro before a couple days ago.

Here's the story: BBC: 'Stupid statements' - Trump WW3 jibe stuns MontenegroTucker and Trump talked about why the US would not want to send soldiers to fight for those people.

This from the POTUS who claims looking weak was a serious problem.

Think Putin isn't looking at more aggression toward his neighbors?

Some relevant (and frightening) history: The Telegraph: Russia plotted to overthrow Montenegro's government by assassinating Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic last year, according to senior Whitehall sources

First of all, it's Rasmussen. Secondly, it isn't all that different from where it has been.

Yes, it is BECAUSE it's Rasmussen's!

Likely voters selected with a healthy turnout model from a pool slightly leaning conservative, not registered voters, nor adults (with adults Gallup style it's probably -25 now, unless they're drawing)

More nightmares from the press conference:

Bloomberg: Kremlin would like to interrogate former diplomat McFaul - Trump made no commitment but didn’t rule it out, Sanders says

Is she serious! :jaw-dropp McFaul was our ambassador, you know, with diplomatic immunity and all that.

President Donald Trump entertained a proposal from Vladimir Putin to let Russian authorities pose questions for the former U.S. ambassador to Moscow, Michael McFaul, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday.

Allowing the interrogation of a former American ambassador, who held diplomatic immunity while in Moscow, would be an unprecedented breach in protections traditionally provided to the nation’s foreign service.

We've already been gobsmacked by this part:
In exchange for the opportunity to have McFaul and a number of other Americans questioned, the Russian president offered to let Special Counsel Robert Mueller observe interrogations of 12 Russian intelligence agents indicted by a U.S. grand jury last week for hacking Democratic Party email accounts.

You may be making an unwarranted assumpition that he knows anything about it now. Other than that it is MonteNEGRO. Why would he want to help THOSE PEOPLE?

Jeebus. I disliked Bush with a passion, and I'd rather have him then this clown. He clearly doesn't like Americans, throws tantrums like a child, yet people still adore him. What is it? He isn't handsome, he isn't articulate. He can't finish a sentence. He always goes off on tangents and then stops.

ETA: Yes, I see the irony in my post.
