The Trump/Putin summit predictions thread

Well they've found a way now - apparently President Trump said would when he meant wouldn't (even though that makes no sense in the wider context of the press conference).

It's all OK now, President Trump is back to being a great man, a great politician and someone willing to put peace above politics and all it took was 24 hours

It's just embarrassing, I feel so bad for the majority of Americans who don't want to be represented by this chump.

Ordered by whom? Who could have prevailed upon him to change his tune? Bolton? Pompeo? Putin himself?

ETA: I see now you mean high-level Republicans, but I'm still curious how they got him to do it. Saying they'll block his Supreme Court nominee unless he retracts?

Actually reuniting the kids in cages with their families.

Trump Tweets

"So many people at the higher ends of intelligence loved my press conference performance in Helsinki. Putin and I discussed many important subjects at our earlier meeting. We got along well which truly bothered many haters who wanted to see a boxing match. Big results will come!"

Even Captain America (well technically Chris Evans) denounced Trump:

Captain America: Donald Trump is 'Putin's puppet'

Evans tweeted:

I don’t even know what to say. Today was a disgrace. @realDonaldTrump embarrassed America and should be ashamed of himself. Shame on anyone who chooses to ignore Russia’s interference in our democracy for the sake of Trump’s political well-being. I’m at a complete loss.

Maybe, but the effect of the Helsinki summit started to show:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 44% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Fifty-four percent (54%) disapprove.
The latest figures include 31% who Strongly Approve of the way Trump is performing and 46% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15.

He'll simmer away for a day or two and then reverse the reversal, doubtless explaining the Russians are 'fine people'.

Don't worry he will retract his retraction like he did for when they got him to briefly condemn nazis.

Link.

"So many people at the higher ends of intelligence loved my press conference performance in Helsinki," Trump tweeted Wednesday morning.
He continued, "Putin and I discussed many important subjects at our earlier meeting. We got along well which truly bothered many haters who wanted to see a boxing match. Big results will come!"

Guess you guys called it.

So is this going to be old news in a week from now or are the Democrats going to go full Benghazi on this? I think they should go Benghazi.

And the first result of the secret meeting came out last night in an interview with Tucker Carlson.

Trump said Montenegro could be the cause of WWIII. Do you think Putin told him that in their secret meeting? I do. I doubt Trump knew jack about Montenegro before a couple days ago.

Here's the story: BBC: 'Stupid statements' - Trump WW3 jibe stuns Montenegro
'They're very aggressive'

In an interview with Fox News, Mr Trump suggested that this country of fewer than a million citizens could somehow provoke a global conflict. His reply to interviewer Tucker Carlson caused jaws to drop on the Adriatic coast.

"Let's say Montenegro, which joined last year, is attacked," Carlson told the president. "Why should my son go to Montenegro to defend it from attack?"

He was referring to Article 5 of the Nato founding treaty , which sees an attack on one member as an attack on all. Mr Trump understood his point.

"They're very strong people, they're very aggressive people. They may get aggressive and, congratulations, you're in World War Three," Mr Trump extemporised.

Article 5 has been invoked just once, by the US, after the attacks of 11 September 2001.

Boris Raonic, programme director at the Civic Alliance human rights organisation, was among those who could barely believe what they were hearing.
Tucker and Trump talked about why the US would not want to send soldiers to fight for those people.

This from the POTUS who claims looking weak was a serious problem.

Think Putin isn't looking at more aggression toward his neighbors?

I so want to see Hannity do one of his "what would Reagan do?" pieces on this.

Don't you think he sounds confused?
