I fear his reaction between the elections and the inauguration of the new congress. If he sees the end he'll probably react even worse than he has been.

That's certainly possible. But for the sake of my sanity, I prefer to think of these days as the flailing about of the old order in which old white guys (which includes me) see their privilege and power fade in the face of a diverse population. Nobody gives up gobs of power without a fight and we're in the middle of one of those fights.

Maybe the most astonishing, yet not much commented on, moment is when a reporter asks Putin whether he wanted Trump to win and directed his officials to help, and he said "Yes, yes I did."

While I consider his ego is possibly to blame, I think there is the strong possibility that Trump business dealings with Russian oligarchs over the last two decades included criminal and embarrassing deeds. So much so he has become a Russian asset that is left no choice but to cooperate and act on their behalf.

“I didn’t know the president,” Trump said. “There was nobody to collude with. There was no collusion with the campaign.” Link

He, himself, is ALL he can see; that's it. Since he, personally, didn't collude then, OF COURSE, his campaign didn't. I do think he believes that because his ego simply won't let him entertain any other scenario.

That said, I do agree that his past dealings with the Russian oligarchs probably includes a lot of illegal actions. In fact, I suspect that many of them [the Russians]are hoping nothing comes of the Mueller investigation because if they are charged/indicted, they face the possibility of having their assets in the USA (and elsewhere?) seized and maybe even the possibility of not getting any repayments from Dump as HIS assets are frozen. They may be sweating Mueller as much as Dump himself.

Everything is about turning out the base and winning in the margins. Independents and swing voters. His base can hardly be turned against him. He could kill someone on 5th avenue and they would blame the victim and say that it was justified.

Trump LOST the vote by 3 million voters and yet won the election because of 100,000 votes spread over a few specific states. Now I'm not going to say he can't win again. But I doubt it. People will turn out in droves to vote against Trump this time. He'll lose those marginal States the next time. But he'll still capture 40 percent of the vote. The base ain't going nowhere.

If that's the case, he's dumber than I thought. The best way forward politically would be for Trump to treat Putin harshly. Aim his attacks on Russia. Instead, his actions makes it look like ther is something there.

Why I believe it's more than ego over the election is Trump was being Russia's buddy long before the election He was toeing the Kremlin line almost from the day he came down that stupid escalator.

I really don't think so. It can all be explained by Trump being unable to understand that he can do anything wrong and the fact Putin doesn't say nasty things about Trump (that Trump gets to hear) .

I don't think we know, either scenario could explain Trump's behavior:

1) He actually is compromised.
2) His narcissistic pathology prevents him from accepting he didn't win the election fair and square.

I'm going with both because I think his money laundering involved a lot of high level Russians.

I'm convinced most people are stupid when it is tribal. I can't believe religion is a thing in this day in age and yet it is. How do smart people believe in that nonsense? Not just dumb people, but smart people.

There are definitely a lot of stupid xenophobic morons who are Trump supporters. And then there are smart people who see him as a means to an end. A way to get tax cuts and destroy the government. People who not only want to end Obamacare, but welfare, food stamps Social Security, Medicare, worker protections, the EPA, and any regulations.

Trump is a turd and a tool. He's racist, sexist, boorish misogynistic and absurdly ignorant. He's smart about manipulating the press and maybe that's it. He's a master at what Mark Cuban called headline porn. But he's a moron about almost everything else.

He has the maturity of a 3 year old. I can't believe people actually voted for this crazy liar.

That’s what saddens and discourages me the most.

Trump can say that Gen. Pershing had the right idea, and that POW’s should be summarily executed in a humiliating manner, or that we should target the families of terrorists, and Trump’s core 40% would probably agree enthusiastically.

If collusion is ever proven, it just shows how smart he was.
