Following the President’s comments that the European Union is a “foe” with regard to trade, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas shared the following statement:

“We can no longer completely rely on the White House, To maintain our partnership with the USA we must readjust it. The first clear consequence can only be that we need to align ourselves even more closely in Europe.
Europe must not let itself be divided however sharp the verbal attacks and absurd the tweets may be,”

Hence all the attacks on the deep state. Trump's ego will not allow him to even consider the possibility that his election victory was the result of anything but his own brilliance. Putin is happy to play along with Trump's insecurities so long as it encouraged Trump to attack US allies and American intelligence community.

You think this all about his ego and that's all?

While I consider his ego is possibly to blame, I think there is the strong possibility that Trump business dealings with Russian oligarchs over the last two decades included criminal and embarrassing deeds. So much so he has become a Russian asset that is left no choice but to cooperate and act on their behalf.

He says that that he finds it "hard to believe" Putin didn't know about top Russian intelligence officials' efforts to interfere in the 2016 election.

I think a lot of news investigators are failing to look into the financial ties Trump has to Putin and his oligarch partners. It's not just the volumes of black mail papers Putin surely has, but it's ongoing financial dealings.

It was mentioned today that Russia was 30th on the list of our trading partners. What wasn't mentioned was where Russia was on Trump's list of trading partners.

People need to stop worrying about the products of incest who make up Trump's base. They're just there. They're a number. He can't win with his base. Republicans can't keep both houses with just Trump's base. The constituencies that matter are the Obama supporters who stayed home for Hillary and the "lesser of two evils voters" who swung the Rust Belt. Pennsylvania voters put a Democrat in a seat in a special election in a district Trump took by 20 percent.
 
I wonder if the folks that are dead and memorialized on the wall of the CIA agree with trump and his supporters that Russia's intelligence services are better than ours.

I agree with this. If Obama's old base turns out, and all the signs are that it will (and then some!), the numbers are on our side.
