NICOLE SPIESE & the New Challenge Rules

Her e-mail contains several spelling errors. For this reason I do not think the author has been to Uni. Can Kramer contact the real NICOLE SPIESE?

Yeah, nobody here ever mispeels words...

I'd say hoax. Wonder if either
a) The real Ms Spiese knows that someone is using her name to write to JREF
b) If she is indeed real, if the university she attends knows that she is using their name in an effort to demonstrate how scientifically-minded she is? Being a graduate of theirs and all...

I'd remove her from the alumni list, myself...

For a person who has a uni education and is claiming $1m I expect a claim that is of a reasonable standard. Her claim was not. She did not even put her claim though a spell checker (sic), which will pick up speeling (sic) errors. So I doubt if the claiment has a uni eduction as the real NICOLE SPIESE has and the real NICOLE SPIESE should be informed of the crime. Maybe that is why she wanted her ID kept secret?

Because I felt there was a possibility this was a hoax using an innocent person's identity, I sent an email to the real Nicole Spiese's faculty advisor and asked him to check out the situation for possible false use of Nicole's identity.

The fact that the applicant asked not to be identified raised a red flag for me. There were other indications, to me, that this was someone's idea of a (really lame) joke.

If this is the real Nicole, I don't feel bad about snitching her out to her master's degree advisor in neurosciences. If this was a false use of her name, she needs to know about it.

Some years ago, I had my identity falsely used in a hoax. I did not appreciate it one bit.

If I get a response from her advisor, I'll let y'all know about it.

I personally wouldn't do that. Advisors probably wouldn't care that much anyway...

"People like you and your friends Penn & Teller like convincing people that they're lunatics but you are afraid to admit that maybe, just maybe there's a scientific explanation for astrology, feng shui, and the placebo effect."

Was she trying to say that Randi and Penn & Teller want people to think that they themselves are lunatics, or that the people they are talking to are lunatics?

Gooder grammar and speelling might convince me better of her credentials.

What are the consequences for Kramer and Jref if the real NICOLE SPIESE did not apply for the challenge and the application was a hoax? Could Jref or Kramer be sued?

For what? For someone who had nothing to do with JREF using her name? No case. For the person who did it, however...

Whoever "Nicole" really is, I'd love for her to make a claim and be tested. :D

I think she is talking about herself.
