You're always going to be disadvantaged by your efforts to find out the truth of these claims. In the other thread someone said 10K out of 12K kids were showing up with adults other than a relative. No citation, but if one is provided I will gladly read it and evaluate it. Rather than hold my breath I did some Googling and found out that 10K unaccompanied minors had shown up. I like knowing the facts because ... well, because I hate being wrong, and I want to fix that.
Research takes more time than just passing on a claim though.
I will provisionally accept your research re the 10k unaccompanied minors. That is a different situation and definitely requires accommodation and facilities for those kids. Perhaps a properly staffed and equipped tent city is a suitable short-term solution.
That said, it has absolutely nothing to do with separating young children from their parents after they cross the border as a family
