But her emails!!

Who would have thought that the Trump foundation, an organization that had previously been convicted of making illegal campaign donations to a Florida politician who had been investigating Trump University and who's most famous charitable activities involved buying portraits of Trump, would be under suspicion of illegal activity.

One of the first things I said about Trump in these threads was that one of the biggest dangers he poses was having his example of civility becoming more pervasive in society in much the same way as his bigotry has emboldened bigots.

You don't need to take the moral highground as a means of beating Trump, you have to take it to avoid him beating you.

I'm a bit behind, but this honestly seems incredibly ignorant to me.

You fear his brand of civility becoming more pervasive? We should take the moral high to avoid being beaten by Trump?

What?

You do realize that we're talking about the current President of the United States of America? The moral high ground already failed against him.

I've been waiting for this. I hope scumbag scofflaw Trump is finally held accountable for his fake charity.

It's a lawsuit, not a criminal trial, so I suspect the worst that will happen is he'll have to pay a fine.

Like with Trump University.

A pretty big fine - and being banned from nonprofit work for a decade. And dissolving his "charity" scam business.

And from the looks of things, a number of people involved failed to heed Stringer Bell's advise on when to take notes...

Yes, the direct result will probably be relatively mild (a fine, dissolution of his charity). However there is the potential for certain.. side effects.

- It is possible that this lawsuit will result in the release of information that will tie into other investigations.

- Yet one more legal distraction will cause Trump more headaches (and possibly cost them more money), which, given the way he has armed others, he sort of deserves

And go to work where?
It used to be that working in the white house could be a career boost... something to proudly put on your resume. Now? Not so much.

The big corporations where jobs come with mid-six-figure salaries have largely avoided the top tier of former Trump staffers. One company that picked a former top Trump aide to be its chief executive tried to paper over the association, leaving the word “Trump” off the press release when announcing the hire.

From the same interview on why he wants Russia back in G7

"If Putin were sitting next to me & we were having dinner, I could say, 'would you do me a favor? Would you get out of Syria? Would you get out of Ukraine? Just come on.'... I could ask him to do things that are good for the world."
Well, that's true, he could. And Putin could respond in English, meanwhile muttering "Can you believe this puto?" to nearby Russians.

Also of significance IMO is that this is a state action. Though only civil (at this point) it does show that NY prosecutors have been investigating him, which matters because it removes from the equation Trump's power over the executive branch of the U.S. government.

Which in at least one poster's view is seen as pretty much absolute (and there is support for that view).

I dunno, I figure Putin's more likely to pat Donnie on the head, give him a few table scraps, and a hearty "Good boy!"

:D
Of course we have only Trump's scenario that he would be sitting next to Putin as opposed to alternative postures with entirely different connotations.

Tweeted by Sanders:

Does @CBSNews know something I don’t about my plans and my future? I was at my daughter’s year-end Kindergarten event and they ran a story about my “plans to leave the WH” without even talking to me. I love my job and am honored to work for @POTUS
Talk about a non-denial denial. After "plans" or "future" the next obvious phrase is "that I don't?" but she refrains from saying that. CBS was pretty damn sure of itself on this, and she does nothing to scuttle such talk.

I don't think this is good for Trump. Sooner or later even his supporters might start to wonder why he's such a wrecking ball when it comes to keeping staff. Also telling is that Sanders is checking her phone while at her daughter's kindergarten event (and don't call it a "graduation," that's snowflake-speak), but I suppose because of her job she has to sign up for updates and so forth. God forbid she can just be a parent for an hour.
