Roseanne Barr off the air

Just did a quick search for orangutan in proximity to orange on this very website and got the chuckles.

Around Chicago, Valerie has a well deserved reputation as a stooge for the Iranians.

Comedian makes racial joke, loses job. Oversensitive douchebag liberals complain, TV network caves.

People: just don't think you are making strides in equality and racism. You are not changing the way people think, you are merely silencing them. Keep sticking your heads in the sand and someone's bound to come along and kick your exposed ass back into reality.

War On Racism = War On Drugs = War On Terror = War On Poverty = Just Say No. Accomplishing nothing never felt so righteous!

Yes, I'd never know racism was still a thing if it weren't for Barr's tweets.

And, you know, the president's clear and open hostility to nonwhite people that he has repeatedly used rule of law to enforce.

And the GOP's efforts at disenfranchising black voters.

And those police calls.

And quite a few other people on this forum.

And books.

And the people who hypocritically howled at Colin Kaepernick, Jemelle Hill, and so on.

And birthers - wait, that includes the current president again.

How about "Blackish" not being allowed to deal with the NFL players taking a knee...wait, there he is again...

Anyway, Barr will be back in some way, even Charley Rose got to pitch a series on victimizers that lost jobs due to #metoo. For now, I'm going to laugh at how this predictably blew up in ABC's faces. ANd I never cared about winning people like her over, I just want them to go be racist somewhere else. That's why I just watched the first episode (thought it was boring), and waited.

You do know the history of calling blacks has nothing to do with that movie, nor was it even in the same era.

I can't believe anyone in this forum needs a reminder what 'black face' is about.

Even Dr Seuss drew black people to look like apes.
Yeah I know about that.

Jarrett is a really light-skinned black woman. She could pass for white or something other than African descent. If you dressed up to look like her you wouldn't do blackface. She doesn't look like an ape in any way. Roseanne seems to be more idiotic than racist because Valerie doesn't even resemble an ape. Is Roseanne on drugs, or something?

Since when is equating a black person to a primate considered "comedy" and "a funny joke"?

Did I miss the memo ?

Newsflash for those who possess an IQ that falls on the wrong side of the bell curve:

Equating a person of colour to a monkey has never been "a joke", has never been "funny", and has never been considered "comedy".

....

No need to thank me for your newfound education on life, I'm glad that I could be of some help.

Or you could just send me money.

Either way:
You're welcome.

Yeah, but every time a new issue is brought up, all of those other instances of racism you mention are wiped clean. That's certainly integral to the game played by every racist apologist on this forum.

How can we call Roseanne Barr a racist just for making an apparently racist tweet? After all, she was born just last week, so how could she have possibly understood the context of her "joke?" She hardly knew anything about Victoria Jarrett (again, Barr having been born just last week), so how could she know enough about her for the "joke" to be racist?

And the apologists here just started posting last week, so how could they possibly know the context that made Barr's "joke" racist?

It's the same game CTers play. Everything is brand new, to be looked at with eyes uncorrupted by useless crap like experience and facts.

This might be an example of the everyday racism that white people may face. Being accused of being a racist.

Always guilty until proven innocent and you won't be proven innocent. Just be quiet and take the lashes.

... You see, that was the kind of world we'd made...Lots of love-making but NO love!

Are you sure this is the argument you want to be making?

Because for starters, you're implying that some black people do in fact look like apes.

Should we talk about the goddess Michelle Obama? Have you seen her legs? OH MAH GAWD. She married a nerd with big goofy ears. How did that happen? It's because she never met me.

Roseanne, ain't left or right. She's been sucked into the space where the ultra left and ultra right meet, the Ultra L/R Vortex- think of it as sort of an Ultra Looney Tunes Plasma. Where left/right ideas completely disassociate, collide, reassemble, collide again, pick up a free radical and gain enough energy to momentarily escape the vortex, before losing energy and spiraling back in to pick up yet another free radical and start the process all over again.

What on earth is this? Is criticizing racism now "ultra left?" Seems like pretty basic decency to me.

I've never seen any black person that looked like an ape. Apes are gorillas and chimpanzees (okay gibbons too) and they don't look anything like the black people I've seen.

If you think I'm implying that they look alike then we need to talk some more.

Does anyone not recall the furor when a Google Images algorithm incorrectly was identifying black people as gorillas?

Since rectified, but lots of screenshots of the fiasco still around.

I have been told repeatedly that certain Presidents look like oranguatans and slightly further back in time, chimps.

Perhaps we should clarify?

I made a mistake here because apes includes orangutans and I knew that. I've never seen a black person that looked like an orangutan either.

They don't really look like those animals. Chimps have big ears and so have some of our Presidents, but they don't have chimp ears. It's all stupid except for the part where Michelle never met me. That's the kind of stuff that hits home.

We're in this new phase where every mean or insulting thing ever said is now bigotry and exactly the same as racism and it's a double standard, no fair, boo hoo.
No, that is not what's happening.

There has been a racism backlash after Obama.

That's why Trump and his con job were able to take hold.

But two steps forward, one back has brought out the backlash to the backlash.

It's OK to regulate guns, no one is taking them away.

Me too, enough is enough, women are awake again and this time sexual abuse is on the chopping block.

Black lives do matter and racism is going to be beat down one more time.

And Trump is not a movement. He's a piece of **** that has gotten in the way of progress, a blip, nothing more than that.

If that isn't true, then we are at risk of something akin to a Hitler movement and I don't believe that for an minute.
