This situation is very unlikely to have any impact on anything. Slate is just pushing an idea that they think will appeal to its partisan readers. Trump's position is that Comey is lying about everything and he never said that he wasn't in Moscow on the night in question. Almost certainly Trump is lying, but it is lying that can not be proven false. And even if it was, the simple dodge is that Trump just misspoke or just made a mistake.

Keep in mind that what Trump or Cohen say in public is irrelevant to the investigation except in as much as it shows their deceitfulness and unreliability as witnesses: Mueller and the FBI have plenty of proof to bring them down.

Sure it can be. Courts of law very often conclude that a witness is lying on the testimony of another person. Include that Comey wrote memos shortly after the events are further proof. The fact that you say 'almost certainly' Trump is lying tells me what most people would conclude , even Trump supporters. (Although they would would turn a blind eye)

He cannot be charged with obstructing the probe in any way. He can fire whoever he wants. The only remedy is impeachment. That is all the Congress has.

He is in charge of who works at the executive branch

Congress cannot put protection around Mueller, it is unconstitutional.

Since the dossier first set that balloon aloft I’ve been agnostic about its existence. Lately, I’m leaning in the direction of, “Yep, that airship is pretty vivid against the blue sky.”
Trump all but admitted it in his asking Comey to look into it.

It may be satire but it would still be funny. This would be totally out of character for Bezos. Trump trolled him for days and he never took the bait.
Bezos is not above fighting back when he's in a position to (see "welcome to the club" tweets Re Elon Musk/spacex)

Judging by your reply, I'm going to take it that you didn't read the article, as you don't seem to know what it's about.

According to Comey, Priebus was in the meeting one of the times Trump told the lie to Comey. If Priebus corroborates Comey, I'm not so sure it can be waved away that easily.
