The only way to salvage the midterm election is to keep sucking up to Trump until the primaries are over, then do a complete 180 and attack him with everything they've got. Impeachment hearings, everything. They have to appear more anti-Trump than the Democrats if they want to keep the existing Dem wave from becoming a tsunami.

But they can't do it until then, because their dwindling base is still conditioned to support whoever the most rabidly insane candidate appears to be. If they jump the gun they'll get primaried by someone who isn't just acting crazy.

But the reality of violence is not so simple because in practice it can be quite difficult to determine just who is the "bad guy with a gun" and just who is the "good guy with a gun".

I would say hyperbole, except Trump has a disturbing love for dictators.
 
Trump thinking about appointing a Fox and Friends host to head the Veterens Administration.
God, he is inventing a new for of Gevernment; Government by TV Personalties.
 
More and more it is becoming clear that Trump is determined to get rid of anybody in his cabinent who is not a yes man and who is a not a boot licking toady to Trump. Any experience or qualifications for the job are secondary compared to blind faith in Dear Leader.
A trainwreck of massive proportions is coming,and Trumpy might well drag the GOP down to destruction with him, And, from their spineless toadying to him, they will deserve it.

I am not surprised. Trump is a creature of the media. He only got where he is because people believed he is a Successful Business Leader, when that is just the role he plays on TV.

ETA: Next up, a TV doctor as Surgeon General.

More than that, I keep cycling back to my theory that this is all as big a shock to Trump as it is to us - that the plan was to get national attention to launch a media venture, and he ended up a Russian puppet government.

So, the whole Russia thing is unraveling, so going back to Plan A and tightening up media networking makes sense: the only cost is the public interest, and I think it's clear that has no value to Trump.
