The Trump Presidency (Act V - The One Where Everybody Dies)

I'm a little concerned that you think he deserves what he gets prior to knowing for sure what's alleged. I'm totally on board with the claim that he is remarkably unsuited for his mandate.

It seems pretty solid he was using his ties to the POTUS to line his own pocket.....

Ironic that some of the few people who think this is a good idea are Democrats.
There are rabid protectionists on both the Left and Right, they are both wrong, wrong, wrong.

Some Democrats, notably including Bernie Sanders, oppose trade deals that appear to benefit other countries more than the U.S., or that encourage U.S. businesses to send jobs abroad. China has notoriously stolen U.S. intellectual property without consequences. But not many Democrats think it's a good idea to impose arbitrary tariffs on imports of raw materials that will hurt American manufacturers and consumers.

One theory:The tariff decision was to try to influence the upcoming special election in Pennsyvania, and after the election Trump will modify or drop completely his idiotic tariff proposols. That is about the best case scenario ws can hope for.

That is just it;This is arbritary and way too broad;it hurts some of our allies as well as our opponents.
I am not sure that tariffs and trade wars are a way to solve any of the problems you mention.
BTW, one of the reasons I did not support Sanders was his protectionism.

Was that one Jared, or Don Jr.?

I've honestly lost track, so I'm asking as much for myself.

They both attended. Kushner was supposedly on his phone, only stayed a few minutes and wasn't paying attention, all of which was contradicted by other evidence.

A twofur, announce it now to distract from the negative news (currently backfiring), and make some official announcement closer to the election.

It doesn't look like the plan is coming together. :p

Is there any such thing as non-rabid protectionism in your mind?

Not really. I am pretty much a free trade guy.
Problem with protectionism is that is never works long term..like isolationism.
I honestly think the reason some people on the left support it is they see it as a way of hurting "big business". That it hurts the economy as a whole is of secondary importance.

It seems like it works for some people but not others, and each good and trade partner has to be meticulously evaluated on a case by case basis to see who the winners and losers will be.

For example - lets look at agricultural biotechnology. Do you think it's going to hurt European countries long-term to keep Monsanto out while they develop their domestic equivalents?

Also, do you think patent and copyright protections are "protectionism"?

There are a whole host of things that he is supposedly involved in:

- Lying and omissions on security clearance forms (https://www.salon.com/2018/02/23/pe...rity-clearance-forms-why-hasnt-jared-kushner/)

- His was involved with the meeting with a Russian agent where the Trump campaign thought they were going to get info on Hillary

- Shady financial dealings, including receiving large business loans shortly after meetings held at the white house.

Even if nothing illicit can be proven regarding the financial transactions, his lying on security forms is a matter of record, as is participation in the meeting with Russian agents

Is there any evidence he lied on the forms?

Well, sure, you can always find "some people" on the left, center, or the right who support policies (be they arguable positive or negative, depending on the desired effect) for nonsense reasons.

I don't think protectionsism means what you think it means..........

I have NEVER seen patent and copyright used as an example of protectionism.......

I've seen The A-Team.

The A-Team was a favorite of mine.

Let me assure you, as a strategist... Donald Trump is no "Hannibal" Smith.

:D

Could be, could be. If Mueller has the evidence that this is the case, then he deserves serious punishment.

Don't get me wrong. I've never liked the guy and I certainly don't like him being in the administration. But I'll wait until a case is made before I pass judgment, that's all.

Is there any evidence he lied on the forms?

Depends on what you consider evidence. To people who have been reading the articles, and kept up to date, it's pretty clear that 4 "addendum" submissions is blatant lying. Especially when one included over 100 interactions.

In certain worlds of completely semantic quibbling over every possible verb, noun and subject? No. There isn't, they're just all happenstance.

There, I saved everyone else the time. There is no evidence that you would deem reliable, so there's no sense in discussing it. Consider this all just a fun adventure in 'what if'. Which is perfectly logical for a skeptic to do.

Thanks, moving on.
