The Trump Presidency (Act V - The One Where Everybody Dies)

I honestly don’t see any support for the alleged racism in your response.

Really?

You think the NRA is fine with permit carrying gun owners being shot just for saying they have a concealed weapon?

Shoot, I'm not an NRA member or even a gun fan of any sort, but I have to say, I would think that one of the whole points of a CC permit is that it allows you to concealed weapon, and you should not be shot for doing so.

But hey, the NRA says that's ok?

OK, they aren't racist. They are just slime who don't care at all about legal gun ownership.

I've not been a member, but I would ask, have they stood up to defend black people who were shot when they had guns?

For example, how visible were they when the black guy with a concealed carry permit was shot in his car by police? I don't remember hearing anything from the NRA defending him. I may have just missed it.

They pulled the both sides thing. Apparently thinking the second amendment applied to blacks was his mistake and killing a law abiding gun owner in a panic over a black owning a gun was the cops mistake. These a basicly equal as they put it.

Coverage of Trump's meeting with steel and aluminum leaders and possible tariffs is all over the place. It looks like White House officials were trying to preempt Trump and say he wouldn't announce tariffs, but he actually did. I think?

And his idiocy and infantile thinking pushes the stock market down.

Incompetent, corrupt, whole family criminal enterprise and his base doesn't want to look. There has to be more than a few GOP legislators ruing the day they underestimated the damage Trump could do to their party and their own reelection chances. No wonder they would choose not to try to stop Russian election interference at this time.

blutoski, I honestly don’t see any support for the alleged racism in your response.

It's such a ubiquitous question that it's hard to figure out how to compose answer, since it's blatantly obvious.

It's like when I deal with earthers or creationists. How do I distill hundreds or thousands of years of science into a post.

Roger Ramjets has a good primer.

Are you ok with the formal spokespeople for the NRA calling the recent school shooting a hoax like the esteemed board member mr Nugent? And of course the spokeperson saying that "Rick Sanchez Was 'Fired by a Jew?'"

https://www.snopes.com/rich-sanchez-tweet-rick-sanchez-fired-jew/

Though clearly these are the kind of people who do speak for you as an NRA member that is simply a tautology.

I assume you mean Philando Castile - and no, you're right, they gave a mealy-mouthed "we'll see" when pushed, and then stayed silent, except for Dana Loesch, who briefly whined that Castile had smoked weed (Rule 1: Racism is old).

They loved George Zimmerman, though - or at least the law that let him get away with murder. And they did campaign for our current white supremacist president. So I'm amused to watch the idiot stab them in the back, because from my view, it's like watching Lex Luthor fight the Joker, but more stupid.

As much as I despise Trump, I got a felling this is SOP for any President, and a lot of other politicians as well. You always want to keep track of what the opposition is doing.

I just assume they do offhand - much like any competent political campaign in the US does opposition research on potential opponents (the smart ones also do oppo research on themselves in anticipation of this).

Difference is, a decent president would also know the key interests of key players in congress, and state governments as well, in order to work with them. I rather doubt that Cheeto Benito thinks of this, since he's mostly concerned with how to lash out at everything around him.

And this is where I'm trying to use what I already model for the NRA as a way to interpret why they're not out there revving up the PR machine against a president who says he's fine with scrapping due process to confiscate guns. A perfectly good explanation is that they figure he's talking about disarming blacks, and they're fine with it.

And this is where the membership vs directorship is a very relevant issue. NRA membership is diverse. But I have to judge an organization by what they do, and what they do with their dollars is lobbying and political advocacy media, where they are mostly noticeable about their night and day responses to incidents that are entirely predictable by race.

My impression is that budget-wise, the NRA is not beholden to their membership, but rather, to large donors, and the agendas do not overlap much.

ETA:
Having said that... a 'clue' to membership drivers is spikes in enrollment after incidents and the proportion of revenues from membership dues vs donations. While it's true that membership jumped after the 2007 Obama candidacy was confirmed, what I notice more is the donations overwhelmed dues for the first time in that year as well, and dues have never caught up. In fact, even as membership fell and annual dues went up by $5, donations continued to rise faster than dues. NRA has become a PAC, for one thing, and a PAC that looks like it congealed around panic over a black POTUS.

Also most Presidents learn to shrug off some of the attacks made on them. Abusive attacks go with the job. You only respond to the attacks which actually might damage you.
But Cheeto Mussolini goes nuclear at any attack or criticism of him.

That is what his base loves about him, he is a real punch backer.

Well, more that he punches the right people.

Somebody who 'punches back' at a swipe from Ted Nugent would be a traitor, for example.

I guess that Jeff Sessions is the right person now.

And Sean Spicer earlier - with his "punishment" at not meeting the Pope.

It's any loyal follower who doesn't instantly please Trump - even if Trump's demand is impossible

Jared deserves what he is going to get, but I am concerned this will fire up the Anti Semites.
I'm a little concerned that you think he deserves what he gets prior to knowing for sure what's alleged. I'm totally on board with the claim that he is remarkably unsuited for his mandate.

Re: Kushner....

I'm a little concerned that you think he deserves what he gets prior to knowing for sure what's alleged.
There are a whole host of things that he is supposedly involved in:

- Lying and omissions on security clearance forms (https://www.salon.com/2018/02/23/pe...rity-clearance-forms-why-hasnt-jared-kushner/)

- His was involved with the meeting with a Russian agent where the Trump campaign thought they were going to get info on Hillary

- Shady financial dealings, including receiving large business loans shortly after meetings held at the white house.

Even if nothing illicit can be proven regarding the financial transactions, his lying on security forms is a matter of record, as is participation in the meeting with Russian agents

Was that one Jared, or Don Jr.?

I've honestly lost track, so I'm asking as much for myself.

Been a member for years, and peruse their magazine monthly.

I personally have never picked up on any racist tendencies of the organization at large.

Do you have anything beyond a general perception on this?

When the NRA Backed a Ban on Open Carry

Social media postings noted that in contrast to their current policy of backing laws that allow citizens to openly carry loaded firearms in public, in 1967 the NRA supported a statewide ban on open carry in California after armed members of the Black Panther Party started patrolling city streets to counter police brutality.
