Cont: The Trump Presidency Part IV

As someone said In a week Trump will do/say something that'll make today's "********" comment seem quant. Does anyone remember "Mexicans are rapists," "bleeding out of her whatever" and "good people on both sides"? Happy 11th day of 2018, everyone!

Keith Boykin asks

When did you know Trump was racist?

1. Housing discrimination
2. Central Park 5
3. Birtherism
4. Called Mexicans drug dealers
5. Ban on Muslims
6. Pardoned Joe Arpaio
7. Nazis are “very fine people”
8. Endorsed slave-supporter Roy Moore
9. Called black countries “*********”

After today, I don't think it can credibly be denied any longer that Donald Trump is a racist; I not just in a "casual way", but to an extent that he allows it to inform his policy decisions as president.

And the saying that the following poster's username refers to is appropriate in this situation.

Oh, horse hockey! Your if is put to the test with his first tightening of immigration and visas. A direct target to Muslim countries... all citizens thereof, and many very well-educated ones.

Mumbles will recall the old standard: What do Mississippians call a black MIT graduate with a PhD in Molecular Biology? A ******, of course.

(And forumites should note... you let in Norwegians and pretty soon Hawk_One will be applying. Oh, wait.....)

As anyone who's worked in a multinational company with a diverse ethnic work force in the USA can tell you, the most overqualified people, largely due to degrees not being recognized, are the people from the Indian sub-continent. India doesn't compare in percentages to the USA but there are, by number, 70,000,000 college grads there, 4% of whom are unemployed.

Let's see how they word the rules to make sure to exclude those people. (They ain't Muslim, for the most part. They'll have to come up with some other excuse.)

To accept Trump is not a racist, by now you have to allow yourself to be continuously fooled by him.

To be honest the will of the people in any Democracy tends to be indicative rather than determinative in this day and age. The real point is that Trump is afraid of the poor reception he is likely to receive in the UK where he is at least as unpopular as he is in the USA. He hasn't pulled his visit because of any actions by Mayor Khan but because he is what he is - a narcissist who only wants adulation.

I don't doubt it for a moment. It suits me fine if the idiot doesn't ever set foot here, but what I do object to are the ideas that a) he should be prevented from doing so because of the perceived public mood and b) that he should be prevented from doing so by the threat of violence.

Do you or do you not believe that Trump's visit should depend on the will of the British people? It's a straight question.

I believe Khan is a shrewd politician who took a stance that energized his base. You can't blame him for that. The fact that Trump showed himself for a coward by how he responded is just an added bonus.

Yes, he's saying the wrong thing to gain popularity. Just like Trump does. Of course I understand it, I just disagree with it.

Indeed.

Political correctness. Must be a SJW.

Notorious RINO. He couldn't get a nomination for dog catcher in a GOP primary these days.

The new embassy was paid for by the sale of other US owned properties and the sale of the old embassy ($431 million). It sits on five acres in a city with one of the highest land values in the world . Those five acres alone would have cost in the millions and that land is in an area that Trump criticized for being "off location".

I've already said in no uncertain terms that I have no opinion about whether or not the expense of the building is warranted, and was making no comment relating to that. I don't understand why you persist in responding as if I was being critical of the price.

And I can only admire that someone was able to pay for a $1 billion dollar building with $481 million. Can't complain about that. :p

Five acres isn't all that impressive. The Pentagon has a five acre courtyard. Inside the building. The building itself adds another 28 acres to that.

He wasn't prevented so I'm not sure why you are bringing that up.
