Naaah, they voted from Pensacola, which according to Trump-think is the same as being in Alabama. Why would he hold a rally in Florida for the Alabama election, you ask? Simple he's got those good old alt-righters in Pensacola willing to give him the space for free and his staff put together the rally in a hurry because Donnie Johnny was having a bad week and they had to get him out to the mindless (and witless and largely toothless) adoring panhandle throngs.

I'm betting that Donald Trump will graciously say the people of Alabama have spoken and that he is looking forward to working with Doug Jones.

That's not far from the spin one of the alt-right guests on Fox had. Something along the lines of: "It's Alabama. If he wants to represent his state, he should caucus with the GOP and support GOP directives because everyone knows this was not Democrat versus Republican, it was about the Stop Moore movement."

She wasn't literate enough, 'cuz I would've paid big bucks to see someone on national TV say, "It was the Edgar Alan Poe / The Raven election.... #NeverMoore".

(Truthfully? Don't tell the crowd in General Skepticism and the Paranormal... I'm superstitious. I wasn't going to jinx him. I've been looking for a win for the Dems in LA/MS/AL for a while. There are (really really, there are) good people in those states. They need to step up, and it's too bad it took a repulsive garden slug to do it, but it happened so good for Alabama).

Hello? I'm posting from TN, and we have another lefty Al voter in the thread. I see good lefty voting people all over the place in the South. Even my 65 yo mom, a lifelong Republican, became a democrat when Sanders hit the scene, and voted Hillary in the general.

We were just hoodwinked pre-internet. Access to information is an amazing thing.

Congratulations to Alabama. A bare plurality appeared to actually care about the morality of their candidate.

A large proportion of the elecorate consider abortion to be child murder. I'm sure many voted for Moore because they consider him moraly superior to the child murderer.

I don't agree with them by the way, I'm just presenting their point of view. This election wasn't decided by the morality of either candidate, it's no good to use morality as a propaganda device to smear GOP, you come out no different to them, just on the other side.

Some statistics Mrs Don was looking at regarding this election were stark:

Among whites, Moore won 70/30, among blacks he lost 98/2.

Moore also lost among women and young people.

IMO the messages are clear:

• Old white men are happy for a racist, Christian dominionist, misogynist, child molester to represent them
• The GOP needs to ensure that as few blacks, young people and women vote as possible in the next election either by getting them off the rolls or persuading (or "persuading") them not to vote
• This result is an aberration, expect service as usual to resume next time around

In all seriousness, I take issue with the CNN splash page. We don't yet know how an insurgent Republican candidate who isn't a kiddie diddler would perform. I'm not so sure the "Senate is in play" as the CNN splash page suggests. We'll only know in 2018 when we see the crop of insurgents Bannon is able to get past the primaries.

I'm hoping that Jones wins, Moore demands a recount, but because the Alabama Supreme Court said "go ahead and destroy the records" a recount is nearly impossible.

I'll correct my own idiocy. Having read about the digital records, I'm clearer now. The digital records are not unique, just a copy of the paper.
