Charles Manson (1934-2017)

Reading about his childhood Rey interesting. Such are how monsters are made...

Why is such venom and bile reserved for this guy, when the perpetrator of your average mass shooting event is anonymous and forgotten by the time of the next one? Is it because he organised the killing of a celebrity?

That he got so many others involved and the psychology behind their doing what they did is probably the biggest interest factor.

Why do you assume I don't have plenty of venom and bile left?

Actually, I don't. I damage myself with this nonsense.

Learn, be a better person yourself. Hating others has zero benefit. I can feel the acid brewing in my stomach now.

ETA: Everyone, go out tomorrow and make a friendship.

That is one factor undoubtedly, but there is also his political motivation, described in the Guardian
Prosecutors at the time said that Manson and his cult were trying to spark a race war that he believed was foretold in the Beatles song Helter Skelter, and hoped the Black Panthers would be blamed for the killings.
That's quite striking and memorable.

I read Bugliosi's book on Manson, and from what I remember I did start to wonder if Bugliosi over-egged the Helter Skelter thing. It seems that, sure, he and his little group of weirdos, did enjoy listening to the Beatles and a lot of other rock music, but that most of the interpretations of the songs were put in by Bugliosi himself.

This is admittedly from my very flawed memory.
