The problem with your characterization, Sabrina, is that it all presumes the position of a non-moron. I mean, you don't even need to go the the "semi-reasonable" position, anyone still bringing this up is obviously about as stupid as you can get.
There is value in knowing that about someone.

When I first heard about the claim that Obama wasn't born in the US (on a right-wing talk show (Bill Cunningham) well before the 2008 election) it took me about 10 minutes of Googling to reach the conclusion that it was a giant load of male bovine feces. I never found a need to do any further investigation than that.

While Obama's birthplace may have been questionable, the arguments put forth by those who claimed he was an alien were complete nonsense. Perhaps you can show me anyone's argument that Obama was an alien that was not a complete joke? If you can, you'll be the first.

False equivalent. You're trying to act like we're "instantly knowing" everything, rather than "following it until you could draw your conclusion", as you perceive yourself to be doing.
The problem is, you never seem to reach a conclusion. No matter how much evidence accumulates, no matter how many logical refutations of the CTs are provided, you're still JAQing off.
And that's the problem. We don't "instantly know" everything, we just have a far more reasonable standard for what evidence is needed to reach a reasonably likely conclusion.
If everyone in the world acted like you, we'd never get anywhere, on anything.

No. Like many here it was clearly, instantly recognizable as nonsense and the product not only of conspiracy nuttery but bigotry as well.
But even if one did not instantly recognize it as nonsense, it is no excuse for the kind of rumor mongering that some here indulge in. Rumors, including those that are damaging, harmful, stupid, and even that change the world for the worse, start with credulous people repeating things they do not know about while disavowing their part in the process. Oh no, you don't take responsibility for the truth of the lies you repeat, but you repeat them. Over and over, new ones and old ones, and always disavowing responsibility. The word for that is "irresponsibility."
Anyone who watches the news must know, of course, that we are free to be wrong and free to be stupid, but I still will go on record as saying that if I were the promulgator of stupid and unfounded rumors such as we're discussing here, I would hang my head in shame at having fallen for such irresponsible foolishness.

I dont get why it is deemed dumb to listen when a presidential candidate's birthplace is questioned. Its not like they claimed he was from Mars. Seemed reasonable to check it out. I'd take a look if any presidential candidate's birthplace were questioned. They ought to be vetted/certified anyhow. Birthplace, taxes, medical, etc

* The publisher's book blurb 'was born in Kenya'
* That Honolulu Advertiser article and that Nairobi newspaper article someone found (they said) by searching Barrack instead of Barack. I dont know who found them. I saw them the day they were put online. The Advertiser article covered him the day he campaigned for Tammy Duckworth in Honolulu. He was quoted, paraphrasing: "America is wonderful because Tammy and I can serve in Congress even though we were not born in this great country." The Nairobi article was celebrating their native son becoming a U S Senator. Maybe fakes, so I immediately checked each paper's website. Both were there at the sites. Seemed legit. Next day I went to see again and both came up "404 not found". Same next day, and I searched their archives, nothing found.
Then they released the birth certificates and that was that.

The question was directed to one, not all. I know most have looked into some claims. Its just that "knew instantly it was nonsense" seemed like a joke, based on what I had seen:

I was suggesting that there was nothing that was substantial. You've included three more silly items. Videos clips you claim exist, some unknown "publisher's" book blurb and some sort of newspaper article. You understand what I'm getting at? It's always "I saw this" or "I read that". If in the very rare circumstance someone actually provides a link, it's usually not the substantial evidence they say it is.
In this case, I know the evidence in your post is a joke.
