Ed Dueling protests spark state of emergency in Virginia.

Is anyone else amazed that Richard Spencer went from implicit Nazi to explicit Nazi?

Clearly, the strategy for growth of the movement would have been to maintain plausible deniability and stay away from the Stormfront types? I thought that implicit Nazi in a suit was his schtick

Plausible deniability died in Charlottesville. Spencer is smart enough to know this. The alt-right have gone all-in and outed themselves as the Nazis we always knew they were. There will be much more violence before this is over.

I know. The Alt-Right has a clear ceiling to growth now.

Non-racist right wingers and constitutionalists got off the train almost a year ago, but now it's bound to stay fringe. I hope.

... It is clear the Nazi/KKK side strongly dislikes communism and I think the average communist hates the Nazi/KKK side...

OK. I can explain this. The Nazi/KKK dislike Communism because all Bolsheviks are Jews. Don't try and make sense out of it because it ain't never gonna' make any.

Apparently 62% of Americans polled favor keeping the Confederate monuments in place.

Surprised me, since this and other left-leaning sites led me to believe that most wanted them down.

I know my fallacies, so I'm not putting forth that the majority supporting something means it's right. Only that in a democracy, the will of the people has to count for something.

As an aside, I only know of this from listening to Rush Limbaugh today. In the area I'm in, he was on the only talk radio station I could receive. I'm not a fan, but sometimes leaving one's bubble does expose one to some interesting counter factuals.

As a further aside, I find myself marginally in that 62%, though I certainly understand the arguments against such monuments.

There were also tons of people there who are simply very concerned, as I am, at what they see happening with demographics, where they see it leading (whites a hated, scapegoated minority in ALL formerly majority white nations in a few decades) and are trying to advocate for their group. Not an outrageous thing at all.

Herein lies the problem.

You believe that there should be white power for the white people, black power for the black people and yellow power for the yellow people and so on, and that these people should live in their own designated countries with little to no mixing of races. Is that a fair and accurate summation?

this is why it's wrong.

We are all humans.

We have advanced science a lot in the past generation or so and we can say that all humans, the world over are i) descended from a single group of homo sapiens that arose in Africa and ii) that differences in skin colour, or eye shape, or nose size are insignificant. We are all the same species, we are all fundamentally the same, we all share vastly more in common genetically than we have things that differentiate us.

The more time that passes the more our DNA will get mixed up and we're all going to wind up the same shade of brown (assuming humans survive that long)

There's a long and bloody history of human conflict, humans have fought with humans for as long as we've been around. Humans are suckers for a good story. They'll believe any old crap if they think they'll get something good out of it (See religion or the recent US election) leaders have always played on peoples fears and vilified people who seem different. It's very easy to stir up hatred of people based on the colour of their skin.

A lot of the 'majority white nations' where stolen from indigenous people. (See Australia, the USA, the Roman Empire) A lot of slaves were imported into affluent nations to do menial work. "It's OK these people aren't humans they're subhumans because they look different to us"

It's just utter ******** though. Skin colour is no more or less important than the colour of your eyes, or how full ahead of hair you have, how big your nose is. It's just genetic mutations that were successful because they attracted mates.

One day, probably a great many days from now, humans will get over genetic differences.

I want to live in a world where skin colour isn't a factor. We're a long way from that and I will likely never get to see it. I kind of hope that my grandchildren might. There's generations worth of mis-education to overcome before that day will dawn.

Can you imagine how ridiculous it would be to be turned down for a job because your feet were too big? Skin colour ought to be as inconsequential as the myriad of other minor genetic differences among humans.

It's not. That makes me sad.

Here are some more detailed statistics:

• A strong majority (62 percent) of Americans favor leaving the Confederate statues standing as historical markers

• Overwhelming numbers of Republicans (86 percent) favor this, as do 61 percent of Independents

• The only group with a majority favoring removal (57 percent) are “Strong Democrats” — as opposed to “Soft Democrats,” who slightly favor keeping them (52 percent)

• When defined by political ideology, only Liberal/Very Liberal people muster a majority for taking statues down (57 percent). Among self-described Moderates, 67 percent favor leaving the statues standing. A whopping 81 percent of Conservative/Very Conservative people favor the statues staying in place

• Unsurprisingly, the Northeast is the region of the country most in favor of removing the statues — but even there, a majority (53 percent) backs leaving the statues standing

• Here’s a stunner: 44 percent of African-Americans polled believe in keeping the statues standing. Of Latinos, 65 percent believe the statues should remain

• Comfortable majorities — no less than 60 percent — in each age cohort support the statues
This is barely an issue with white Evangelicals, 85 percent of whom back the statues. Only nine percent favor removal, with the rest unsure

I personally don't have a strong opinion either way, although I guess I'm mildly on the "keep them where they stand" side. Mostly from reading arguments from Condaleeza Rice.

You realize that these indigenous peoples had slaves, right?

I wouldn't be so sure:

btw, has the vice-mayor of Charlottesville Wes Bellamy been mentioned, the one who was central in lobbying for the removal of the statue? Here's a Washington Pest article from December last year. Features the "unite the right" organizer Kessler as well: Virginia Board of Education member resigns after vulgar tweets surface

sweet irony said:
Charlottesville-based blogger Jason Kessler, an author, unearthed the tweets and published them in an entry on Nov. 24, calling Bellamy “a blatant black supremacist.” He also criticized Bellamy’s campaign to get a statute of Confederate general Robert E. Lee removed from a local park, terming it an effort to “attack white history.”

Bothsiders have to make the following leaps: Protesters = Antifa = Soviet Union. Yeah, I'm not sure how they get there either.

You seem to be confused, neo-nazis do not represent the Soviet Union. The leaps are: Protesters = Antifa = Soviet Union = Nazi Germany. The first one isn't a particularly large leap though.

*Looks at who the President is*

If only.

I still wouldn't call him a Nazi except as shorthand - frankly, that's giving this lot far too much credit. This is more like assorted prison gangs, with a bunch of enraged white supremacist internet trolls mixed up - thus why half of the soldiers on their little "Unite the Right" flyer are Pepe the Frog clones. In truth, Spencer himself went from "the dapper new white nationalist" (as though there's anything new about a racist that knew how to dress), to "that nazi that got punched in the face" in record speed. Him and a few others managed to manipulate these various dopes into forming a mob in a small college town that was expecting police to keep everything in hand - which they obviously did not.

THat's why their torches were really just tiki torches - actual, still-practicing KKK members know how to make real torches. And real burning crosses. And that's why there was little to no discipling from either side - it was a basic hate mob on one hand, and local, unprepared residents on the other. And now, for the moment, there's a crackdown. Folks are getting drummed out of jobs and schools, they managed to accelerate the removal of Confederate statues the way Dylan Roof did with the battle flag, Toupee Fiasco found an incredible new way to make it clear that he was unfit for office. The candlelight vigil at UVA absolutely dwarfed these clowns.

That's not to say that a hate mob can't cause damage - three people were killed, dozens injured. And yes, people should be vigilant - but they should have been vigilant years ago. But for the moment, it looks like the so-called alt-right will get a strong response wherever they go, and that's better than everyone pointedly ignoring them like they used to.

So Jews have joined ST's list of inferior races that need to be eliminated from America?
Not surprised at all.

No, that's always been the case. Do you know of any white nationalists who don't view Jews as a infectious disease?
