The cleansing the streets in both statements was referring to the bigots desire to cleanse the blacks, Jews, etc. But I can see how it could be read as cleansing the streets of the bigots.

Yes, although it is a bit of a stretch when some say that Stalin wasn't that bad.

Communism can't work, and it is inherently vulnerable to hideous abuse - but at least the aim is... for want of a better word, utopian.

Fascism has no redeeming features.

Nazis are horrible, the worst.

That said, the overwhelming bulk of antifa I have witnessed or interacted with have a remarkable ability to expand the definition of fascist with a neat little rhetorical device where they call you a "collaborator."

Generally, no review or appeal of this decision can be made and the conditions for being deemed such are surrounded by myth and legend. Do not place this card in the discard pile, your turn ends immediately.

And orders of magnitude more threatening to me than the antisemitism coming from the right. As I have pointed out countless times. I would sooner walk into a den of Illinois Nazis and debate their antisemitism with them than I would with a bunch of Communists or Antifa or SJWs on the campus of Yale University.

I don't regard those as redeeming features. Heaven's Gate believed in preparing for the mothership* but that wasn't a redeeming feature of their beliefs.


We know that liberal democracy can survive an existential threat, Britain** managed it in WWII so the totalitarian regime is unnecessary, and worse than almost any possible problem it addresses.




*May not be precisely true, Darat, but their beliefs were something along those lines

**Other countries managed it too, but weren't under such a threat as the UK.

But to be fair it will vary depending on your race, gender, sex and so on.
So turn up a black transgender gay Jewish man and report back to us.
Then do the same as a white cisgender straight rich christian man and report back to us. :)

This strikes me as rather simplistic. To the extent Communists preached world solidarity, it was a ruse to help spread revolution (usually by violent means). Hitler may or may not have wanted to take over the world, but world domination is not intrinsic to Fascism as it is to Communism.
