Don't know if starlings, but I have seen that kind of pattern of large scale bird movement here in Florida - last time a few months ago - downtown Orlando.

Note: I do NOT mean the Millenium Falcon (i.e. MF) thing, I mean the swirl pattern of the flock of birds!!!!!
