CNN Doxxes a gif maker

It's basically a nitpick on what the file extension is and even there it's pretty sad. The individual took responsibility for the .gif. Just some weird points to make to try and make a point

The individual had a pistol to his head and certainly did not write that "apology" on his own. And maybe he made an original video and put a GIF of it on reddit, or he made only the GIF of an original video, but both aren't what Trump tweeted.

This thread would be hilarious if it wasn't so obvious that the OP is trying to lie to our faces about completely open information that we can all see. That makes the thread disgusting.

The age of Trump: Facts don't matter.

Call it what you want here, I think that threat was a big mistake by CNN. Why did they take this so far?

There are now dozens (if not more) of similarly themed "GIFs" on the internet now, so the plan backfired.

For someone busting balls on the difference between sound and not, you sure have no issues claiming absolute ********. You have nothing to support any of that and you speak it as truth. Nothing hypocritical there.

What "plan" ?

Vox, which one of the writers take the side of extremely unethical, had an awesome comment on why keeping the identity private matters

The problem here is that the internet is not proportional. People wouldn’t merely react to this guy making some offensive remarks on the internet by making some offensive remarks to him. They would react as the internet has reacted before to these kinds of situations — with potentially thousands of hateful messages, death threats, attempts to get him fired, and harassment not just against him but also his family. Lines would quickly be crossed.
....
This is very different from the consequences of doing or saying something bad offline. An offline situation might lead your friends, family, and peers telling you off and making you feel bad for what you did. It might even lead to you losing your job if you did something really bad. But those kinds of reactions are very different from an internet mob threatening to kill you and harassing not just you but your family, friends, peers, and co-workers.

I wonder if the reporter that's been working on the story has had any death threats or if any reporter has been threatened due to the inflammatory statements and .gifs that have been directed towards the news media. I bet not, only this guy would have a tough time.

Are you implying none of the information that could be gleaned from the answers to those questions would be news worthy?

Were there actually some secret web of influence, perhaps. But that obviously isn't the case.

It is secret, but not organized. It is opaque who these people are, how many are there, how coordinated are they, and how is the campaign reaching into there. Trump had an AMA with this group despite/because of their belligerency.

This GIF serves the same purpose as a campaign contribution. We constantly hold politicians accountable for accepting useful donations from reprehensible people.

How do you know he's reprehensible? You have already made that judgment, without knowing his name. You didn't need his name to make that judgment. Nor do you need to to hold Trump responsible for his use of that meme.

How cute, trying to deflect from the fact that you falsely accused me of nitpicking over file endings. Do you acknowledge now that Trump did not use that guy's content as posted on reddit?
