The Trump Presidency

It sickens me to hear the PDJT say "We won in Georgia!" -- dismissing half the country which he is also responsible to.

Oh, and he bites off the word "Georgia" just like he does all the other locations that end with "a". Russia, China ("Chynga"), Syria, Korea, et. cetera.

Preet Bharara emails about his concerns over Trump phone call obtained through FOIA.

Former US Attorney Preet Bharara sent an email to Justice Department officials in New York complaining about a phone call he received on March 9, 2017, from President Donald Trump’s secretary, Madeline Westerhout, according to emails BuzzFeed News obtained Thursday under the Freedom of Information Act.

"At approximately 4:41 pm, on 3/ 9/17, I received the following voicemail l at work:·‘Hi, Mr. Bharara. This is Madeline Westerhout calling from President Donald Trump’s office. If you could please give me a call back at t hat would be great. Thanks,‘” Bharara wrote in an email he sent on the evening of March 9 to then deputy US Attorney Joon Kim and Joan Loughnane, chief counsel to Bharara.

"After receiving that message, I immediately consulted with the Deputy U.S. Attorney, Joon Kim, about the propriety of return ing t he call. We printed out and reviewed a copy of the May 11, 2009 (as well as he December 19, 2007) Memos relating to Communications with the White House [redacted]" Bharara added.

Trump himself will not disclose information about how he made his money, or about what he's actually worth. I don't expect presidents to be 100 percent transparent on any number of issues, but refusing to release information that other candidates willingly released, and that he earlier promised to release, does raise questions about his truthfulness and integrity - as well as deepening the mystery of his general business dealings.
It's been pretty well established that the pope is of the Catholic faith, no?

Trump did it again.

At his rally in Iowa Trump proposed legislation that would prohibit any welfare benefits to Immigrants for 5 years.

The issue you say? This has been a law since 1996. Legislation signed by President Clinton.

Oops

So you're telling me that Trump already retroactively kept his promise? Truly a giant among men.

I think Trump was aware of the old saying: There's a sucker born every minute" and focused those words to his supporters.

Trump's proposed 5-year welfare ban for immigrants is already law

Cedar Rapids, Iowa (CNN)President Donald Trump proposed Wednesday night reforming the welfare system by putting into law a statute that has been the law of the land since 1996.

"I believe the time has come for new immigration rules which say those seeking admission into our country must be able to support themselves financially and should not use welfare for a period of at least five years," Trump said to raucous applause from the roughly 6,000 supporters who flocked to his Iowa rally. He added that he wanted to pass legislation to that effect "very soon."

With a few exceptions, new immigrants already cannot access welfare programs during their first five years in the US, per a 1996 welfare reform law signed by President Bill Clinton.

Business success might be a better qualifier, than lack of business success. Why would you want either a business failure, or a business non participator as your economic adviser?

In addition to all the reasons this is wrong that have been posted, the fact is that business economic acumen is far from the same thing as governmental economic knowledge. Government and business are two entirely different animals and so are the economics of them.

Boeing to lay off workers. Where's Trump?

Boeing factory where Trump delivered jobs speech to lay off 200 workers

The South Carolina Boeing plant where President Trump gave a speech promising to protect U.S. jobs says it's laying off workers.

Boeing confirmed to CNNMoney on Thursday that it's cutting about 200 jobs at its plant in South Carolina. The plant had previously experienced sizable cutbacks in 2013 when Boeing significantly scaled back contract workers.

Speaking at the plant in February, Trump promised a crowd of assembly workers, managers and executives that "jobs is one of the primary reasons I'm standing here today as your President, and I will never, ever disappoint you."

Not his fault. NAFTA is still in operation (Terrible deal for America - Sad !) which is why these jobs have been lost - either that or the EPA. If only he'd been allowed to re-negotiate all trading relationships heavily in the US' favour and repeal all environmental legislation then these jobs could have been saved - Sad !

I'm aware of the narrative that Trump is almost invincible with the Republican base ("I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters").
McConnell hiding his Trumpcare bill till the last moment shows the GOP knows that narrative is questionable at best.

I'm not so sure.

Their belief that they can get away with a stunt like that tends to suggest that they are cheerfully taking advantage of Trump's invulnerability among his supporters.
