No president has ever had a higher approval rating than Donald J Trump! Fake News! Sad!!!!!

Let's take a look and compare.

Trump Is Beating Previous Presidents At Being Unpopular

His approval rating is well below those of other presidents at the same point in their presidencies.

100 Days: How Trump’s Low Approval Ratings Compare to Past Presidents

President Donald Trump’s approval rating is the lowest of any president ever polled at this early point in his term.

Trump is strongest among his Republican constituency, which supports him at historically high levels. "The average first-quarter approval rating among those who identify with the president's party had been 83 percent before Trump," writes Gallup’s Jeffrey M. Jones. Trump stands at 87 percent in the Gallup poll.

Trump's support has fallen significantly since the election. His backing among independents, for instance, has dropped about 15 percent. As the charts below show, the president's approval rating was flat or declined in every poll taken over the last several months.

Gingrich taped
The tapes expose Gingrich for organizing meetings between Trump’s campaign team and Russia Ambassador Kislyak.

A recent separate report revealed 18 calls between Trump’s campaign team and Russia during the final months of Trump’s campaign. According to the report, 6 of those calls were with Kislyak.

This past month, Gingrich suddenly popped back into the spotlight following the announcement of the Mueller investigation. First, Gingrich glorified Mueller as a “superb choice to be special counsel. His reputation is impeccable for honesty and integrity.”

Then, Gingrich said the “media should now calm down.”

In one of his most statements, he had an abrupt change of heart. He stated, “The brazen redefinition of Mueller’s task tells you how arrogant the deep state is and how confident it is it can get away with anything.”

Trying to find some corroboration for this on less fringe news sites. What else do you have besides TrueBlueScoop?

There's the Palmer Report, I'm seeing more and more of them, but is it a real or fake news site?

Report: FBI has recordings of Newt Gingrich setting up Trump-Russia meetings during campaign

I find this story quite suspect. Why would Newt have any Russian connections?

I would be suspicious of the Palmer Report, too, incidentally. Either way, even if it was true, my overall stance of letting Mueller do his job and not pushing to rush things would remain unchanged.

The ISIS Caliphate is surrounded. Media coverage is blocked. Communications in and out of the Caliphate are blocked. A strategy of annihilation is underway. Recruitment of foreign fighters has dropped drastically.
In Syria, working alongside our Turkish ally and partnered forces, we've cleared ISIS elements from the Turkish-Syrian border. That's stemming the flow of foreign fighters, weapons and money to ISIS's front lines. And we estimate that, at its peak, foreign fighter flow in Iraq and Syria was 1,500 fighters per month. And today we estimate that those numbers are less than 100 per month.

It appears Trump may have had a pretty straight forward selection criteria, when it came to picking members of his cabinet: Don't be poor.

Poor people make...er...poor decisions, therefore Millioniares! Tax the...foreigners!
“We can’t have the world taking advantage of us anymore. And I love all people, rich or poor, but in those particular positions I just don’t want a poor person. Does that make sense? Does that make sense?
Trump, during his rally, cast off such criticism, saying the appointment of such people as Gary Cohn, a former president of Goldman Sachs, would help the country better represent itself on the international stage. He noted many in his Cabinet “had to give up a lot to take these jobs.”

“This is the president of Goldman Sachs. Smart. Having him represent us, he went from massive paydays to peanuts, to little tiny ...” Trump said. “I’m waiting for them to accuse him of wanting that little amount of money.”

As an independent observer, I don't think the richness or poorness of someone has anything to do with whether they are appointed as an economic adviser.

Business success might be a better qualifier, than lack of business success. Why would you want either a business failure, or a business non participator as your economic adviser?

Please help me understand. Are you just looking for things to criticize the president for, and this passed your critical thinking test?

Business and economics are not the same thing. Being a success in business does not necessarily mean one has an understanding of economics. I'd want someone skilled and experienced in economics as my economics adviser.

Being poor would be a good indicator that someone does not understand economics. That seems like a common sense criteria for choosing an economic adviser.

Depends on one's definition of poor. Trumps definition seems to be anyone with less than a seven figure income.

Being rich is not necessarily a good indicator that one does understand economics. Seems like the common sense criteria would be someone with an economics background.

The critical thinking part? It's simple. Trump and his advisor pals are out there for one or two things:
1 lower their own tax
2 government dealings and contracts to industry they came out of

Trump, by his own words, was driving at wanting someone who didn't "think" like a poor person. I understood that to mean that he wants people who 'think big' (like he does). Of course there is an obvious false dilemma in that approach.

Yes, I'd say many people might find his comment a little insulting, but things are just different with Trump. At this stage nobody should feel too aggrieved by insults that Trump levels at them. It's like the village idiot calling you stupid for not doing things the way he does them. The insults originate from a place of incomplete understanding.

Why would you want someone that has so little business acumen that they can't even run a casino at a profit as POTUS?

Nice quick demo documenting the 180º degree in understanding of democracy since 1945: Don't Be A Sucker. Good from the start, or jump to 2:20 to get the point.

My how the dolt on the soapbox sounds so very familiar, as if an entire party had gone rogue since 1980 and entirely lost all notion of democracy. Surely no one is that low down, betraying all the troops from WWII. Surely... not a nation of.. of suckers?

Amateur president failed to hire competent staff
Because he failed to put a senior team in place that he trusted, he has squandered nearly every opportunity to become the “people’s president” that he promised during the 2016 campaign. Trump should have proposed a jobs bill and a plan to put money in people’s pockets through either personal tax cuts or new revenue sources on the first day of his presidency. Instead, his staff has allowed him to drift into one briar patch after another.

For instance, Trump promised to find a cheaper, better healthcare system that covered everyone. Instead, he has allowed others to offer up a monstrosity in his name that strips healthcare from 2o-something million people. He promised new jobs. Instead, he walked away from an historic global climate agreement that had perfectly positioned America to lead a $10 trillion renewable energy revolution generating hundreds of thousands of good, new jobs in states that voted for him.

There are other examples like these. But they all point to the same root cause which can’t be papered over with meaningless messaging schemes or talking points (neither of which are an actual communications plan). Trump is failing as a president because he has no one around him that he trusts to give him non-sycophantic advice, and who will deliver for him on bread-and-butter issues that matter to people outside of Washington, DC.

I’ve been through precisely this drill twice — first as Dan Quayle’s Senate press secretary when he was selected to run as George H.W. Bush’s vice presidential running mate and a second time as his communications director in the White House when Bush’s White House team tried to drop him from the re-election ticket. In both instances, Quayle was forced to course-correct and bring in new senior staff that he trusted implicitly to offer real advice, and who would be loyal and responsive.
Trump has one more roll of the dice — one more chance to re-boot his presidency to take on the sorts of issues (like a jobs and infrastructure bill and tax cuts or dividend payments for tens of millions of middle-class Americans) that he said he would try to take on if he won. If he falls into one more briar patch, the House of Representatives could flip in 2018, and he will be a one-term president.

Except, he was never going to be two terms. He is physically not able to do it. He will quit ..or announce not running...at the latest the election year and call it a success.
