The Trump Presidency

I think Trump is about to find out something that John Adams said:

"Facts Are Stubborn Things".
Unfortunately, as the past year and a bit has shown, facts apparently doesn't mean much to Trump nor a good number of his supporters.

.
Trump is his own worst enemy.

So now, Trump admits that he is under an investigation for firing FBI director, James Comey. What Trump told the Russians.

Trump indicates to the Russians why he fired Comey and now, Trump's tweets are coming back to haunt him.

Trump will be the first President who might very well Tweet himself out of office.....

More like Trump is still butthurt that Obama made fun of him at the WHCA dinner all those years ago. If there's one thing Trump's ego does not tolerate, it's being made fun of and laughed at.

All the more reason to continue doing so, I suppose.

I wonder what Trump will do to Australia in retalitation. for the PM's ridiculing him earlier this week........

You know, people always like to knock laziness, but crap like this never happened to Calvin Coolidge. There was a tiny part of me that hoped Trump would just spend his presidency goofing off and trying to set up shady real estate deals to cash in on the office. Just be disreputable and corrupt in a harmless, quaint sort of way. Perhaps the odd sex scandal or crude comment to keep things lively. But he just had to go and try to do politics.

4 years is 1460 days. Day 146 would've been June 14th, so we're MORE than 10% of the way there. Yay!

He's certainly putting the emo in emoluments.

This is fine.

Trump advisers and confidants describe the president as increasingly angry over the investigation, yelling at television sets in the White House carrying coverage and insisting he is the target of a conspiracy to discredit — and potentially end — his presidency. Some of his ire is aimed at Rosenstein and investigative special counsel Robert Mueller, both of whom the president believes are biased against him, associates say.

Another investigation is starting.

The United States Commission on Civil Rights, a bipartisan agency charged with advising the president and Congress on civil rights matters, unanimously approved a comprehensive two-year probe into the “degree to which current budgets and staffing levels allow civil rights offices to perform” their functions within the administration, said the agency in a statement.

The federal watchdog group became concerned about the Trump administration after several agencies announced budget and personnel cuts in departments that oversee civil rights. The "proposed cuts would result in a dangerous reduction of civil rights enforcement across the country, leaving communities of color, LGBT people, older people, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups exposed to greater risk of discrimination," said the statement.

The commission, created under the Civil Rights Act and funded by Congress, expressed specific worry in seven agencies under the president, including the Department of Education and the Department of Justice.

The “repeated refusal” of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to commit to enforcing federal civil rights during Congressional testimony coupled with deep budget cuts within the agency’s Office of Civil Rights is “particularly troubling,” the agency added in the statement.

Nobody. That part will be played by plot-appropriate real tweets appearing on the bottom of the screen.

Ironically enough Stephan Speilberg is currently filming "The Papers" a movie about the Pentagon Papers Leak. It opens in November. Expect a lot of angry tweets about that movie, since I think it is a safe assumption that the movie is probably meant to be something of a extended middle finger to Trump.

Trump tweets:

I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt

So now, Trump admits that he is under an investigation for firing FBI director, James Comey. What Trump told the Russians.

Interesting progression there.

Trump commissions a memo from Rosenstein, via Sessions, to justify his dismissal of Comey. (A memo which, in truth, fails to rise to such an indictment.)

By his own statements we know that Trump had already decided to dump Comey before he received this memo.

And now he blames Rosenstein.

The memo was more than cover for the act of ditching Comey. It was also a mechanism for Trump to shift blame onto Rosenstein for the ditching.

So much for loyalty. Not worth the paper it was purchased with.

And somehow Sessions remains unsullied by the episode. I wonder why Trump failed to note that Sessions was also part of that "advice" he got?

We know it isn't loyalty to his staff in return for loyalty he's received. It's obvious Trump doesn't do that.

What's left? Session has the goods on him and Trump can't screw him over without it getting aired in public?

Sessions doesn't seem like the kind of guy to go down quietly. If he falls he's going to grab hold of anyone within reach and pull them down with him.

He doesn't seem like someone who does "loyalty" very well, either.
