The Trump Presidency

I had posted my views of this meeting in the thread "would you work for Trump." It was physically sickening to me. Deeply disturbing both that Trump gloried in it and that so many of his cabinet were willing to throw their integrity and dignity away in such an embarrassing way. UnAmerican indeed! And I agree- Mattis was the one standout. That took guts and integrity. I wonder what thoughts were passing through his head as he saw each of the um boot...lickers take their turns. And after the meeting, "Hey Mattis, want to have a beer with me tonight?" No, I have to shower first..."

This meeting was one of the most un-american things I have ever seen

Trump tweeted this about the meeting;

Finally held our first full @Cabinet meeting today. With this great team, we can restore American prosperity and bring real change to D.C.

If nothing else, the admission that it's the first full Cabinet meeting since he became President should be seen as nothing to be proud of.

That it was a meeting devoted to unalloyed brown-nose adulation only makes it worse.

You seem like the kind of person who, when he loses at the slot machines, blames "liberal computers".

But you have all the power now!

Liberal computers need to be defeated and they will be? Is there no low that your side won't sink to.

There is exactly one member of his Cabinet and leadership that should have a job, and that's Mattis. The rest are some combination of corrupt, treasonous, and anti-competent. Well, some are merely incompetent. What a disgraceful freak show.

Kelly did alright. He basically said what Mattis said only about his DHS personnel and added a barb about working with our neighbors to the south.

Here's something most people probably didn't see, with Wilbur Ross, Jr - the Secretary of Commerce. Trump almost pulls the "finger" move again when he hears something he doesn't like.

Transcript:
"Mr. President, thank you for the opportunity to help fix the trade deficit and other things. The other countries are going to be getting used to the fact that the free rides are somewhat over with."
(Trump nods)
"I'm not happy with it but "
(finger move)
"I think there's [been a] recognition of it. So I'm thrilled to have a chance to help you to live up to your campaign promises."

(full video - no ad preceeding the video, but the audio isn't as good as some of the others.)

As evidenced by his well over 400 missing appointments?

I mean who really needs a FEMA director, or a person in charge of NOAA? It's not like it's hurricane season.

At least we finally got rid of all the worthless US attorneys. Going after guilty businessmen like Ivanka's father in law, that is down right unamerican!

Nonsense that meeting is what Real America(tm) is all about. That is the kind of leadership that Real American's(tm) love. That is why they voted for him overwhelmingly.

Regardless of whether what they said can be interpreted in any way as a rebuke of the president, each of those around the table will take a(nother) dent to their credibility and they probably all know it.

The longer Trump treats the US Presidency like a cheap reality show, the more it is diminished as a respected institution, and the more i'm inclined to throw up my hands and say 'you did this to yourselves, good luck.' The EU is starting to say the same thing about the Brexit vote.

Every day a fresh turdburger in a seemingly endless **** show.

I'm not quite following. Does Trump have a habit of doing this? Some kind of involuntary reflex 'tell'?

Thanks.
I'm not convinced. I'm less convinced Trump would be paying much attention to what either of the men in the examples will have been saying at the time of his hand movements.

It's tempting, though, to say how impressed i am that people and cameras have managed to pick up on such minute detail.

Yeah, but ...

Hi res cameras, thousands if not millions of people going over every second with laser intensity.

Not all that impressive, mebbe.
