Destroyed Atlantis = Menorah

Not-so-enlightening.

Move to strike. Irrelevant and argumentative.

If you haven't read the link you can't possibly discuss this with me on an equal footing. We have to mine all writings to get to the truth. Somewhere in Gibbon, I found the truth. Now you have to read the six volumes.

Until then, your testimony is immaterial.

A lamp is NOT a candle, GET THAT THROUGH your IGNORANCE.

If it WAS sacred, why the hell did the lamps turn to candles!?

Where did the hanukka lamp or candle holder come from, if not an evolution FROM the menorah?

Is there ANOTHER pattern on another mount that the 8, 9, or 15 candle holder came from?

Maybe you could look into dichotomy's...it is the ability to hold TWO thoughts in your head at the same time.

YES, Jewish people worship a "meaningless" object. As proof of its meaningless, I have presented the FACT that the 'object' to be "worshipped" has changed. Lamps to candle holders, 7, "because some wanted to use it outside the temple, they ADDED lights" became 8, 9, or 15. That is some poop-poor worshipping if you ask me.

Lastly, don't take that tone with me, again.

I don't appreciate it, and there is no need to be nasty.

Just wow...

For anyone just joining this conversation or who has only been drifting in and out, it's time for a recap!

What is the claim, in a nutshell?
The Jewish people at some point came across carvings meant to memorialize or otherwise represent Atlantis, and were so struck by the rough semicircles that they decided to flip them upside down, change them a bit and add a tall stand, and use it as a lamp. King of the Americas apparently got this idea from a Natural Geographic flick, which he'd love you all to watch but which isn't available for free. Forumgoers who have watched it have confirmed it doesn't actually provide evidence for this claim though, so let's instead focus on the evidence King of the Americas has presented here.

Here's a list of claims:

1. Atlantis was a real place
Evidence: Plato wrote about it. KotA ignores Plato's use of allegory, ignores the fact that Atlantis was only described in dialogue from a fictional character, and ignores any descriptions of Atlantis that he doesn't like. No actual evidence.

2. Specifically, Atlantis was on the coast of Spain
Evidence: There are ruins underwater. (This ignores the fact that they're the wrong shape, size, location, age, etc.) No actual evidence.

3. Scribbles on rocks in Spain refer to Atlantis
Evidence: Concentric circles remind KotA of Atlantis, and rough kinda semicircles remind KotA of Atlantis but all ruined. No actual evidence though.

4. The menorah was adopted from another symbol
Evidence: He has shown examples of other symbols being adopted. He has quoted the Old Testament where God tells them how to make the furniture for the Temple, implying that "we saw something vaguely similar scratched on a rock" somehow turned into "God himself told us this and also how to make some other furniture" over time. While this certainly isn't solid evidence, the idea that the design of the menorah refers to something we no longer remember isn't all that crazy so whatever.

5. These scribbles of Atlantis are specifically where the menorah comes from
Evidence: He literally hasn't even tried to show this at all. So, no evidence. He hasn't shown a timeline that makes sense, he hasn't shown that the Jews were vacationing in Spain, nothing.

Summary of Evidence
1. Plato wrote a story where a fictional character describes Atlantis.
2. There are some submerged ruins on the coast of Spain.
3. There are some scribbles on rocks in Spain, of circles and lines and unicorns.
4. It's hypothetically possible that the menorah had some other earlier source or meaning we're not aware of.

I don't know how he gets from those four points to his conclusion, and he doesn't seem inclined to connect the dots for us. Instead he just keeps repeating the same things he's already said, mostly about claim 4 (The menorah was adopted from another symbol). Suggesting that he hasn't produced actual evidence is met with dismissal at first, and being put on the ignore list if you continue. So he doesn't seem to be interested in actual debate.

And now you're all caught up!

Sooooo.....there's nothing but his belief that he's been "mining the truth" but the feeble evidence is barely even applicable to the baseless claim.
Something's been destroyed all right LOL!

My evidence has been upgraded from non-existent to "feeble."

Of course since KotA has me on ignore for the crime of asking for evidence, he can't see my post detailing the fact that the 'feeble' part is only for certain bits of his claim and the core issue referenced in the title for this thread actually has NO evidence, at all.

But even if he could he would just ignore it, as he did so many times before putting me on his list.

Pictures of ruins at the bottom of the Atlantic, are NOT 'beliefs'...

True! We do have pictures of what looks like ruins. But everything after that is pure conjecture. There is nothing wrong in speculations as long as one realise that that is what one does. Your unwillingness to see that your claims is just speculation serves you badly.
