He contradicted the Trump line twice, you don't do that if your Donald's lapdog.

Unless told to.

As usual, this drives us back to the one unavoidable conclusion in all of this: and Independent Investigation is necessary.

No one can be trusted at this point. And, terrifyingly, the only way out is for enough Congressional Republicans to get fed up that they appoint a special prosecutor.

Assuming it's a good one and not a spineless one who will just pick off the low-hanging fruit or worse just go "nothing here" after a cursory talk with people from the WH and partisans like Nunez and McConnell.

We are so far down the rabbit hole here the question is if there's anyone we can still trust.

Yes, I agree. We can't trust anyone Trump has anything to do with, meaning it has to be an investigator put in place by Congress, which can only happen if some number of Republicans get their **** together.

It's really a bad place to be in. I hope we can get to 2018, much less flip Congress.

wrongest points I have heard.

He serves at the pleasure of the president

True but that doesn't mean that the president shouldn't be expected to justify the firing instead of looking like he's firing him to prevent an investigation into the president.

The director is appointed to a ten year term to provide an illusion of independence but it hasn't worked out that way.

When she says that, my hackles go up.

It makes me wonder if McCabe is serious (which makes Sanders an idiot) or if he's saying what he said to give him cred so he can believably shut things down before they go too high up the food chain.

McCabe isn't a Trump lackey. Or even a Republican.

I don't trust Congressional Republicans all this much either.

Democrats should pick the SP.

Consider, this would require guile and subtlety from the Trump White House and a willingness on Trump's part to accept his lackey publicly contradicting him and attracting the limelight in the process. Now I'm not saying its impossible but then neither is aliens landing on the White House lawn...

I get the feeling that Trump really doesn't get the difference between president and CEO.

When you are a CEO, you can fire people when you want, and all of the remaining cronies will congratulate you for your decisiveness, and the fired person pretty much goes away and never bothers you again.

It doesn't work like that as president. Your cronies on the White House staff might do that, but the rest of the country, including a lot of powerful people who hate you, will be very happy to examine your actions in minute detail to see whether or not you did the right thing, and then will be happy to tell the whole world, literally, their opinion on the subject.

Wow. All he had to do was shut up.
His communications strategy is trolling. What he says doesn't generally matter as much as the reaction. The worst thing for him world be if the Democrats calmed down, rolled their eyes and didn't rise to the bait. It would suck the air out of him.

I don't think they can, that's the problem. It has to be approved by some number of Republicans.

So, yeah, we're **********.

I'm pretty sure the prosecutors are from a previous approved pool. They can't just find a lap dog to do it.

So you admit the president is a lying troll piece of ****. Interesting.

My understanding is Mccabe has the sole authority to appoint whomever he wants.

Of course, my understanding could be completely wrong, FWIW.

And every other person you manage, being at the top rungs of their own career ladders, are there with decades-long power alliances.
