Getaway driver arrested for murder.

My grandfather kept a range of guns in the makasiin, so your assumption is erroneous.

She's being held in the Wagoner County Jail and is facing murder charges for the deaths of the three teens.
The sheriff's office and district attorney have scheduled a news conference for Monday at noon in connection with the case.

Leroy Schumacher, the grandfather of Jacob Redfearn does not agree with the homeowner's son shooting him.

Schumacher says his grandson didn't have a chance. The 17-year old, he says, never got into trouble.
“Brass knuckles against an AR-15, come on, who was afraid for their life," said Schumacher.

The homeowner's son has not been charged with a crime. Deputies believe he fired in self-defense.
“There’s got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that," said Schumacher.

Schumacher does say he supports the right to bear arms and protect your home. But he doesn’t agree with shooting and killing intruders.'

I wish I had been there instead of that 23-year-old-kid. I think I would have figured out a way not to kill those three kids.
 
I've been in the presence of a person threatening people with a firearm; I don't look forward to experiencing that again. While I'm prepared to defend myself, I'd rather not.

Friends and students hold vigil for teen suspects killed during home invasion.

The candlelight vigil was held at Rayola Park in Owasso around 8 p.m. But, it ended in a panic with people running from the park.

Tulsa's Channel 8 was at the scene when someone in the crowd yelled: "shots fired". But after a brief investigation, Owasso police said there was no evidence of shots ever being fired.​

The context in which I made my comment, was to Argummenon who was demanding to know why I thought the homeowner had any choice (or similar sentiment) and claimed I got all my views from the television and movies. I was explaining to A. in a specific context why I did not agree with his assumption, which I found patronising, as he can't possibly know where I get my views from.

So your tu quoque comment, too, is a little personal. On what basis do you make that claim? Because my opinion is different from yours?

My opinion is a considered one, so I don't think your comment is fair.

There is also a possibility they would've found a way to deal with you. This wasn't this crew's first rodeo, and you have no way of knowing what they might do. As the getaway perp said, they knew what could happen to them, and who knows what they might have done to prevent that? That they'd pulled other home invasions, and carjackings certainly points they were heading down a very bad road. There would be a reckoning surely, and it happened sooner rather than later. It would have been better had this crew been arrested and tried, but that's not what happened.

Teens often do stupid things that lead to their death. These are accidents and hurt no one but themselves. This was no accident, and had every potential of hurting someone minding their own business in their own home. The perps had no business there, and that is where they died. It's a *********** shame, but they made this stupid, stupid choice.

I was in a position where I knew I was to be murdered. I would have shot the three of them until I tired of it. I got very, very lucky, and escaped.

If I may answer for my own perspective, Vixen, with due respect, I don't think that you understand that the U.S. is not the U.K. Now, maybe even the U.K. isn't quite what you think it is, where burglars can be invited to leave and they do so, but I wouldn't know. Maybe you have a better class of burglar there.

But if someone breaks into my home, I don't invite them to leave, and I also don't kill them because I'm irked. I defend myself and my family in the safest way I know. As I've said, I don't actually own any guns, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to use it in that situation. I'm more concerned about my family than about the burglars, and I don't know if they have guns or what they intend to do.

I don't own guns because (1) I don't think that I need them for self-protection where I live and (2) I don't have easy opportunities to go out shooting for fun or hunting. I hope I'm right about (1), obviously. I don't second-guess others for making different choices, though I hope that their guns are safely stored.

(True story: growing up in Oklahoma, my father kept some of his rifles in my bedroom closet and under my bed. It was different times then, and children could be trusted in those situations. He wouldn't do that today, I'm sure. And anyway, the ammo was in the garage.)

Is there any reason that any rational person would believe that this claim is true? If this claim was true a person could kill someone with impunity even if the "intruder" was completely innocent of anything other than walking on the wrong plot of grass. It would not matter if there were multiple witnesses of good character and video that show the intruder was not a threat of any kind.

In other words it appears you are referring to "legal murder". Oklahoma's "make my day law", whatever that is, seems to be something completely different from what you claim it is.

Why? Because I'm not "Hard Enough"?

I do know this: if I got an AR-15 and I'm facing down 3 guys in a Hallway who don't have guns (and....by default are flanked), then I am a Living God who has the power of "Life" and "Death". I'll choose "Life" if I can...that's just me...a guy that knows that living with consequences is not trivial.

Ditto for me. I'm loathe to use deadly force against anyone, provided they give me some reason to trust them. In other words those intruders better get the hell out of my house or give me a very good reason for being there.
