Seems like the Fascist club thing isn't true.
Anyone surprised by that should be embarrassed (to be clear, not suggesting you were).

Logger informs me that I don't want policymakers who believe this world is the one we need to protect. Logger, how did you come to this belief? I don't want people who think they're going to get raptured, or who want to start wars to fulfill some end-times scenario.
You chose not to address my take on evangelical voters. Which is fine, I've never been sure whether to paint them all with the same brush. Some of them believe in stewardship and have other values I share. But many are rabid rightists eager to see the world burn.
I
No end-times pols please.
Logger: I would have welcomed a good faith argument.

The way things are now, it's difficult to avoid cynicism when it comes to news and reports.
I think these two articles are important, there are plenty of real reasons to oppose Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court, the use of click-bait stories on the other hand...

The quote about the "advancement of the white race" is real, but it was said by David Duke.

If Scalia weren't anti-gay, he'd have been one of the best friends the left ever had.
Opposition research?I am trying to figure out what the hell an Episcopalian was doing in a Jesuit School.![]()
It's not just difficult to avoid cynicism about the press, it's foolish.
You accused me, so I accused you.
You just did it again with your opening sentence!Just like Jesus would have done?
I didn't accuse you of anything.
That's because you don't know the Bible, I know, so surprising. My concern with certain religious leaders in politics comes from the fact that belief in an afterlife, or an imminent apocalypse, or rapture, might lead some to believe that our earthly lives are not than important, therefore AGW etc. don't matter. I don't want anyone in office who thinks the world is going to end soon.
Do you want to talk about that?
That went right over your head. Your response was to something other than what was said. You just did it again with your opening sentence!

Jesus said no man knows the hour or day. That means don't concern yourself with when. I don't want anyone in office who would be so ignorant of things spiritual.![]()
IMHO, Goresuch is a conservative, yes, but not extreme nutjob. I guess we should be grateful for that.
Frankly, I don't think it would be a wise move for the Dems to use a lot of political capital in this fight, unless really damaging stuff comes out in the hearings.
I don't agree. The Democrats need to send a message to the Republicans that stealing SCOTUS picks will not be tolerated.

Why was it a Republican pick? From a perfectly reasonable perspective, the Democrats tried to steal a Republican SCOTUS pick. Rather than showing respect for Scalia's conservative legacy and his untimely death, Obama tried to get a 3rd SCOTUS pick out of his Presidency (more than any other President since Reagan) when the campaign to pick the next President was already in full swing.
