Brilliant Light Power Going To Market - Free Energy Generator

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If there's any truth to any of the scientific claims being made by Mills and company, then Mills and his entourage are idiots who lack the skills needed to bring a product to market.

Except he's been very successful selling the same product for three decades.

And if it circulates fast enough in the right coolant system it can dissipate enough heat to avoid vaporization.

Still, why silver? It seems like they're begging for a vapor explosion if there's even the tiniest hiccup in the coolant system. Why not use a metal that can handle higher temperatures?

Are they even claiming to be circulating the silver to cool it?

And why not use all this heat to generate electricity instead of solar panels???

I was looking for a possible rationale for using molten electrodes not a rationale for producing a huge light bulb and surrounding it with ev panels, because the latter obviously doesn't have one. The resistivity of silver is low nod that might be more important than its temperature of vaporisation.

melting point of tungsten = 3422C
Vaporisation point = 5555C
Heat of melting = 285J/g
Heat of vaporisation = 4390 J/g

Specific heat = 0.134 J/gC

So heat required to vaporise tungsten from room rtemp = 5415 J/g

Assume 6mm diameter 12mm long electrode. Volume is 0.68 cm^3. Density of ungsten is 19.25 g/cm^3. Electrode weighs 13g.

To vaporoise electrode we need 70 kJ over says 5 seconds which is 14kW.

Resistivity = 5.6 x 10^-8 ohm meter.

Resistance is therefore 9.8x10^-4 ohms

Current to produce 14kW is therefore 3,780 amps. You need the current capacity to get the needed losses in the tungsten to heat it but very little voltage is required.

In reality you need more because of thermal losses in the 5 seconds so lets double it.

Michael can you think of a commercial process to produce 28kW? It's rather modest.

And how do you look now?

How has that worked for you?

after:
brlp-tungsten-electrode-2.jpg

And your numbers are off. For starters, double the weight of your presumed electrode.

The resistivity goes up as the temperature increases, which would tend to happen if you plan on actually vaporizing anything.

115.0 x 10^-8 ohm meter @ 3600K. I have no idea what it hits at 5828K, which is the vaporization point.

Using 115 gives resistance of 0.00024403757940757282 ohms

There is a reason sintering is the common method of working with tungsten. The energy required just to melt it is enormous, let alone vaporize it.

The amperage necessary to do what was observed is off the charts, in the range of an industrial electric arc furnace powered by a megawatt sized power plant. Of course, megawatt power is exactly what this proves. Go find me a portable generator that's throwing out 11,000 amps that Mills could have hooked into.

Mills discussed this in his lecture that I cited. The problem was achieving a power density that made it economically competitive.

Here's what Mills is quoted as saying back in 1991:

ie. a prototype CIHT cell that was producing 10 watts (not kilowatts) of power.

The contract never materialized. They were pursuing a contract, which didn't pan out because they weren't able to achieve adequate power density to make the unit economically competitive.

Mills is a little loose with the term "capacity" here. It wasn't putting out a 1000 watts. It had the potential to scale (capacity) to 1000 watts, but the 1000 watt prototype was never built.

The size and cost of the units were ultimately not competitive.

Consider you could buy a 1000 watt gas generator for a hundred bucks that burns 1 gal of fuel for 5 hours, using 1752 gallons over a year for 24/7 operation at 2 bucks a gallon, for $3500 a year in fuel costs.

For example, if a 1000 watt CIHT cell cost $35,000 to produce and install, that's like running a gas generator for 10 years anyways, and if the projected lifespan is 10 years, you may as well just buy the gas generator.

Of course, grid tied power is far cheaper than even a gas generator would be, so there was no point to going forward with a commercial variant of the CIHT cell.

I don't see anything untruthful about Mills previous statements. They are taken out of context and cited from disreputable sources. While the "capacity" issue may seem deceptive, it's also out of context so it's impossible to know what else may have accompanied that statement.

The current SunCell is achieving millions of watts of power in a space that's about the size of a coffee cup. This achievement totally destroys the power density issues that were holding back the previous generation from commercialization.

How do you get rid of the heat from a two megawatt coffee cup?

You don't speak for Mills.

The statements are from Mills himself, and the pubs are not disreputable sources. You are just making things up to justify what was claimed.

He clearly has working cells and he clearly has been testing them extensively in the early 1990s. There's no getting around those claims. He already has a working 1Kw cell in these claims and he is extensively testing it. He scaled it up successfully to 1Kw and was surprised at how easily it was done.

You calling a source disreputable is hilarious.

[I've experimented with] cells doing very
meticulous computer data acquisition systems that run
these cells for long periods of time, turning them off and
on in all kinds of conditions and parameters and all kinds
of adjustments that optimize the power output, and the
power density and trying to determine the economics and
cost effectiveness of various configurations, going into 1-
watt cells and 10-watt cells and 120 watt cells --we ran
for about a month and a half and then we moved onto this
cell with a thousand watt capacity. ...We have a thermal
unit and we've been studying that for about month and a
half now and we're ultimately going to produce this one kilowatt
heater for household use."
Further,Dr.Mills comments [1], "I was quite surprised at
how rapidly this scaled up and actually it was because we
had done all the groundwork. We had done about 500
experiments with this very accurate computerized data
acquisition system, where we had six of these
electrochemical power cells running simultaneously
around the clock and we just kept changing in and out all
sorts of things and just keeping it going, manning this
thing all the time, just keeping it [experimental progress]
going as rapidly as possible. And then once we
determined all these parameters it's very straight forward to
scale it up and I see no limitation to how much power you
can get out of this thing" [electrochemical power cell].

The liquid metal solves a completely different problem.

Such a device can produce a significant amount of output power! It's free energy. (At least as long as you ignore the input power required to liquefy the metal in the first place.)

He calls this energy "ignition", the video he states they do switch it off... but then have to switch it back on very quickly... but real soon it will self sustain and money will pour in....

ETA: To the highlighted part: to be fair he's managed to achieve that without ever getting a generator to work.

It did.

They were vaporizing (literally vaporizing into metal vapor) 1/4" thick tungsten electrodes within seconds of turning the power on.

No commercial power source known to man can do that.

They solved the vaporizing electrode problem by going with molten metal injection.

Tungsten light bulb filaments vaporize all the time.

How do you get rid of the heat from a two megawatt coffee cup? ...snip...
Well just a little time back - 20+ years - they were just waiting for the heat exchanger to be delivered... obviously the recent - 20+ years - shortage of copper tubing has prevented it being delivered but he hopes in the next 3 to 6 months to have got his hands on some copper tubing and water.

Yes, but old ordinary light bulb glass turning grey by deposition of tungsten doesn't match with the story of "power! OMG! power!" that michaelsuede, Mills and all the gang are trying to tell.

The stories of michaelsuede and Mills always match something from movies that is deeply recorded in the collective unconscious. That's why the youtube videos like the last one dropped in this thread are so lame, anti-scientific and just made to impress the peasants (and fools with money soon to be parted because "the big hit is just around the corner").

I insist in the coarse detail of Mills' prop showed in CNN

The copper part, which I have thought it was made using lokrings, it is not even that. It's made by no more than fifty bucks of cheap copper parts and welded manually by a solder with some skills -there's discolouration and blurring at different points, evidence of hand craft-. The same copper pipes tell by their nozzles that the piping is very thin, much probably 0.8 or 1 mm., so they can conduct a fluid at some pressure of 25 kg/cm2 if they had a function.

I'm sure they're decorative, just to get a "ooh! piping!" effects for the gullible to buy. There's no function that justifies its shape. It looks like the props in Lost in Space or The Time Tunnel, but more ordinary and much less artful.

I'm telling the whole thing is a con, and the whole thing is so absurd that I pity all the people involved. But it's very easy to prove I'm wrong just by explaining what is the function of those copper pipes and why are they shaped in that particular way.

That post has
What’s pretty crazy is they are reporting that they can actually shut the power off to the electrodes and the EM pump; yet the reaction will continue in a self-sustaining manner. You can actually see this take place in the video.
What is actually crazy in that post is the linked post with the title "Randell L. Mills – A Living Legend, Greater Than Einstein and Tesla Combined" :jaw-dropp!
Add the BrLP inanity of
  • A YouTube video.
  • An unsupported prediction of a "self-sustaining" reaction.
  • The usual hydrino delusions.
and we have true craziness.

A small lie in that post. BrLP have a fantasy of a "self-sustaining" reaction not any evidence for one: "It is predicted that with sufficient silver vapor pressure, the power will persist by a self-sustaining hydrino reaction".
The statement "the power did persist at the same level for long duration after the ignition power was terminated" bit could be ignorance about the fact that heat does not instantly leave a chemical reactor like a power cell. So we should expect that turning one off would have a lag before power decreases.

ETA: That advertisement dates from October 28, 2016 and includes a timeline which michaelsuede ignores. Where are the models and products from Masimo Semiconductor?

When was this on CNN? I can't find it there, but I did find this from almost ten years ago...
http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/01/smallbusiness/blacklight.fsb/index.htm

CNN Money said:
While the company's followers already extol the high-energy, green, and thrifty virtues of BlackLight's technology, the rest of the world will have to wait for evidence until the fall of 2009, when the business promises to install its cells in power plants. Whether or not Mills' team meets that deadline will likely determine how BlackLight goes down in history - as a revolutionary startup or a flop 19-years in the making.

Now over 25 years in the making!

I mean how do I know anything?

How do I know I'm even living in a persistent universe when all I can experience is the now?

Obviously Mills must be lying about the tungsten, the contractors must be lying about their ability to build the concentrator cells, the half dozen independent university professors must be lying about their lab results, the 30 or so scientists working for Mills must be faking the spectrometer and calorimetry readings, the board members are all in on the scam, Columbia Tech is lying about their ability to engineer a prototype, etc.. etc.. etc..

This is actually the biggest hoax ever created by private industry for the purposes of a meager 100 million in fraud split at least 200 different ways between all the players involved.

You really called it bro.

That advertisement last year by michaelsuede also shows why Mills is so ignorant about physics: Dr. Randell L. Mills, a Harvard trained medical doctor and thus with the minimal knowledge of physics needed for medicine.
