Disgraceful! Richard Spencer Sucker-Punched While Giving Interview

I do not condone violence and I am against anyone being punched. No one deserves to be targeted by physical violence. Simple.

But I am human enough to feel that if "fate" somehow requires that someone had to be punched, then Richard Spencer is high on my list of people I would offer to fulfill the requirement.

Seeing Spencer punched was upsetting to me- I wish he hadn't been. But I would have been even more upset if it had been almost anyone else.

Alternative facts!

I have the sinking feeling we will see far more of those from the US government. Remember that when they tell you next time they HAVE to do something but, hey, they can't tell you because it is top secret and whatnot.

The US government swimming in alternative fact as much as fox news.

A guy with a gay haircut gets punched on the street, in public with plenty of people around, and no one gets arrested? Is this how far we've slid away from a civilized society that we now approve of filming sexual assault and broadcasting it so we can gloat? Shame on America.

ETA: Must I remind everyone again that rape is about power, not sex, and gender identification is not a choice?

What are you talking about? If it was sexual assault, the guy would have been beaten about the head and shoulders with a 2ft-long steel dildo - or something like that. He was punched....that's it. No sexual assault at all.

He is trying to make a joke relating to a separate thread about a male being raped by a female, a thread which included discussion of if rape is more related to violence than to sex or not. Many of the posts in this other thread were, to me, disgusting enough that I would urge you to prepare a disinfectant before clicking on it.

Do we really need to deconstruct the obvious? The closed fist and arm, striking at someone's open mouth is quite phallic and reminiscent of PiV. The patriarchy cannot put up with any truth-to-power speech. Violence to force submission is always the response.

Victim blaming is not appropriate here.

The guy was beaten with a 2-foot-long steel Dildo...or it didn't happen.

Nyeah!

A punch can be viewed as a form of expression that is morally (if not legally) justified. Buzz Aldrin, after all, was not charged for punching the Moon hoaxer, right?

That was a self defense justification, though. Had Aldrin sought the man out to punch him for his insane claims, he probably would have been rightly prosecuted.

Looked like Aldrin tried to get away to me, and then just got trapped by the loon he punched.

Hey...if a guy wants to get away, then let him get away! (and don't come cryin' to me how you got your Butt Whipped chasing down a guy who wanted to avoid you!)

Hahahahaha!!!

...oh, I'm sorry. Don't hit people like that...

Hahahahahahaha!!!

I find this one of the more disturbing threads on the forum. My reasons are as follows. If one of the following happens:
1. Some person somewhere gets punched in the face - I yawn, there are a million of these every day.
2. Some person somewhere gets shot and dies - I yawn, there are at least hundreds of these every day.
3. Some person mouths off about wanting to ethnically cleanse some country - I yawn, there are hordes of fanatical bigots in every country.
4. On a skeptics board full of humanists, people applaud some person getting hit in the face because they are revolted by that person's politics - I sit up and worry about the state of humanity.

If finding someone's political views repugnant is enough of an excuse for some of you to condone or encourage physical violence against them, I don't think you can call yourselves humanists (unsure if you do, just saying). Being against unprovoked violence only when it's done against people you like doesn't suffice.

Also I don't think I want to play with you.

In reading your post I honestly first thought you were headed toward a different direction than you were. I don't applaud Spencer being punched- I'm against it. But I must admit that my addition, highlighted below, comes close to my own feelings about it.

1. Some person somewhere gets punched in the face - I yawn, there are a million of these every day. The fact that this guy belongs to group 3 below further dulls any outrage that I might have had.2. Some person somewhere gets shot and dies - I yawn, there are at least hundreds of these every day.
