Are all Trump supporters racists?

Not sure what you mean by misinformed.

As I mentioned above, my wife was a member of an SBC affiliate congregation; as an assistant to the pastor she received all these communications on a regular basis. Objection to these types of directives were part of her motivation to change denomination to Evangelical Free.

ChrisBFRPKY: sounds like you may be SBC? Your pastor may have access to directives archives.

His claim was the battle flag was never displayed in SB churches. They were, as demonstrated in post 629.

From your link:

"Oklahoma Baptist University recently stopped displaying the Confederate flag in a window of its campus chapel."

A campus chapel window is a bit different place than what was being described.........Chris B.

Perhaps since I'm in KY, this practice is foreign to me. Displaying rebel flags behind the altar doesn't take place here. I've never seen it and I've been to a lot of different Baptist churches here...

I've still not seen any reference to one being in a church, only reference I found was the rebel flag being removed from a window display at a university chapel. Which is quite a bit different story. Chris B.

Well, that's really up to white people, now isn't it?

And again, I'm not very concerned with the random idiot screaming racist nonsense on a street corner, and far more concerned when it leads to violence, people being locked out of opportunity (eg. the war on drugs), or outright white nationalists like Bannon being given positions of power.

No, it's not. Governments are not required to endorse any viewpoint, much less outright white supremacy. As for citizens on their own property - as far as I care, anyone who loves racism that much can get a confederate battle flag tattooed on their foreheads. It makes it much easier to identify the white supremacists, so we can avoid them. What they can't do is force other people to treat them as if they aren't advocating a disgusting view of the world.

O'Reilly has said this for years. And the truth is, I wish "the left" were as committed to equal treatment as he thinks they are, it would be a marked improvement over things as they currently stand.

So it's a "White only" problem and racism does not exist anywhere else?

FYI, I've been called a "cracker" before.......was that a compliment?

Racism can only be destroyed when everyone simply refuses to acknowledge or participate in it. And that means "Eveveryone" . Chris B.

Jesus *********** H. Christ.
Over 90 percent of messengers at the Southern Baptist Convention repudiated the Confederate flag in a vote Tuesday that calls on all Christians and member churches to remove the divisive symbol from public display.
If the flag weren't being displayed in member churches, the SBC wouldn't be asking the member churches not to *********** display them.

ETA: Here's an episcopal church that took images down:

And like the SBC, the episcopals passed a similar resolution.
Soon after, the General Convention of the Episcopal Church passed a resolution urging their churches nationwide to remove any Confederate battle flags.

Every cracker I ever knew was proud of it.

I'm not saying you should.

As I said to the victors go the spoils. Looks like a lot of the American Indian conflicts happened in the Western states. We purchased most of those from France, so evidently the French were the first folks to begin exterminating the natives......I love my Country and will not apologize for it. The natives likely got a better deal than they should have. You don't deserve much sympathy when you scalp settlers.......Chris B.

It is evident that American history is not one of your strong suits.

You've never seen it personally, therefore it must never have happened.

Right.

Are you saying that if someone is worshiping in a chapel that is different than worshiping in church?

That is a truly astounding display of tortured illogic.

A few months after Obama became president, the conservative IT guy at work posted on Facebook a meme that asked the question, "Is This The Change That's Supposed To Be Better?" The meme had two panels of illustration. The left panel was a photo of Laura Bush apparently addressing a convention, dressed in conservative attire. The photo on the right was of Michelle Obama close up, with her face contorted making her savage looking and wearing a leopard skin dress (both effects photoshopped). All that was missing from Michelle's photo was a bone in her nose.

I remarked on Facebook that the posted meme was racist and obviously so. The IT guy replied, "Don't think so!." I replied: "Don't know what's worse. You're posting a racist meme or you're not seeing it as racist." A few weeks later he unfriended me. A co-worker asked why and he replied about me, "I got tired of his sh.t"

The moral of this little experience: Some conservatives are racist and don't realize it.

Me: "There's a serious problem with police targeting, abusing, and sometimes killing black with impunity."

You: "Well, I've been called a 'cracker' before. What about that?"

Big whoop. I've been called "the N-Word", "lazy", "affirmative action", "on welfare", "violent", and more crass stereotypes than I can count. If that were the extent of it, I would simply make a note of such people and avoid them.

No 'perhaps' about it.

Sure, all versions of Sharia, most of which in the USA is Christian. I often refer to the conservative Christian right as the American Taliban.

.

I have never referred to the progressive Atheist left as the American Taliban.

In future I will. There is a lot of similarity in their demand that the State exclusively sanctify their belief.

Atheist Leftists in the USA do not call for violence and discrimination, like Christian Conservatives do.

More than that, there are lots of atheists who value the time with friends and family, regardless of the religious origin of the holiday. Origins tend to matter far less than current state, after all.
.

^^
This.

I see no harm, at year end, in acknowledging an omniscient, omnibenevolent imaginary being.

I refer of course to Father Yule.

I understand your point, but mine was that racism exists when people of one race view another as beneath them or with hatred and contempt. I'm a White man, I have a multiracial family. I sometimes get looks and comments from Whites,Blacks, and Asians. So put away your violin......Ignoring racism will make it go away, sometimes you may even do more to combat racism with a loud giggle at someone that makes a racist comment or when someone gives you that "disapproving eye"
Avoidance is an option but I find meeting any disapproval with a giggle reveals the sillyness of the offending individual's behavior to them. Racism is not a big problem in the US, it exists sure. It's been fueled largely by the Democrat party, as they openly try to separate power in government by race. It's wrong, no matter which race is being shorted.
