While the elated children in Congress are enjoying themselves in the parochial political sandbox, Trump is doing serious damage to US geopolitical interests in the fastest growing and largest trade area, the Asia Pacific. He is also kneeling abjectly before Putin, someone who has changed international borders by force several times. The political movements most encouraged abroad by Trump are nativist or fascist.
Trump is a menace; his supporters seem to forget, but others remember the constant Republican meme: "take our country back" with a black president, the fainting and "I don't recognize my country anymore included," all while standard-fare political policies were being pursued, nothing extraordinary. Trump supporters are now panting at the idea of seeing what they understand as multiculturalism fail. They intend to get a stranglehold grip, as in North Carolina, and shut all others out. They are racists. They will fail. Their ignorance and hubris will see to it.
Stupid, too. You see, doing away with multiculturalism isn't just opening the gates to the persecution of minorities, it also opens them to white-on-white warfare, as seen last century. It just so happens, gosh and golly, that culture is not a function of race! OM freaking G! Just ask the goddamn Germans and Russians, British, French and Spanish. (Remember how nativists and fascists were being encouraged? Not all will line up the same.)
Too bad they mostly travel in their minds, or these Republican wypipo would know that the closest thing to a white American anywhere on Earth, the person who would least hesitate to have your back in a sudden crisis among traveling strangers, is another American of any other race. Soon enough, remaining on this path, Trump's America will find its former friends less warm, alliances less sure. To reply to the inevitable comment that "all of them still need American guns," the answer is that former friends main join enemies willingly, without a shot fired. It's already started.
