Gee, ****. It sounds like they didn't think this through.
How dare you hold your urban elitism over real rural america!
Gee, ****. It sounds like they didn't think this through.
At least it's just a tweet, and not the official US position, like the Red Line was, or the Benghazi video.
But whatever. We're well beyond the era where losing face is a real problem for some people.

Jimmah Carter named his daughter as nuclear policy advisor.
China aren't idiots. I'm sure they'll figure out how to navigate the tricky waters of intercultural diplomacy and commerce just fine.
Not understanding that the Chinese may react differently than western nations to the same situation is a failure to navigate those waters.
Consider me well embarrassed.Make all the excuses you want.
You voted for a childish narcissist. Maybe you did so because you thought the alternative was worse. I suppose that could be forgiven. However, you voted for a childish narcissist.
A tweet like that is just embarrassing.
The whole point is that it's true of every nation. Putin can do whatever he wants. It's up to the rest of the world to navigate that. Trudeau can do whatever he wants. It's up to the rest of the world to navigate that. China can do whatever it wants. Etc.But the whole point is that it is entirely their responsibility to navigate this, the US can do what ever trump wants.

We know he's a childish egotist because he doesn't consider possible responses because he's a childish egotist. We know he's a childish egotist because he doesn't consider possible responses.
But these are just tweets. I think we will need to see what his actual policy actions are, before we can judge whether he considers possible responses. For example, if he draws a Red Line in Syria, will he consider the possible responses that might require him to actually enforce it?

That's not a great example. He'll just rely on Russia and Iran to "pacify" the Syrian people, the ones who aren't dead yet. He couldn't care less about those people. Will he follow through on ultimatums? I doubt it, and if he does, it will turn out worse than if he hadn't.But these are just tweets. Someone may indeed take the tweety away. I don't know if past tweets can be used against him.And look at all the storm over a few poorly chosen words shortly after an embassy was attacked by terrorists. I look forward to a few congressional investigations into twitter statements.
Old age may help some, but winning a presidential election sure seems likely to reinforce any feelings of superiority, don't you think?Someone may indeed take the tweety away. I don't know if past tweets can be used against him.
I spent an inordinate amount of time yesterday researching Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Self-proclaimed narcissist and YouTube guru Sam Vaknin said old age is the one thing that can occasionally pull a narcissist out of his fantasy world.
Consider me well embarrassed.
But consider also that after eight years of Bush, and eight years of Obama, maybe I'm no longer convinced that it matters if the president is embarrassing.
Fair enough.
As for what he does in office, I suppose we shall see. Whatever it is, we will get the President we deserve.
It might still not be enough, and he's going to be getting a lot of negative attention as well. I wonder if he still plans on holding rallies with adoring fans once he's sworn in.Old age may help some, but winning a presidential election sure seems likely to reinforce any feelings of superiority, don't you think?

The office may actually be kind of isolating for him.
