President Trump

Ivanka Trump is poised to play an active role in her father's administration, assuming some of the duties normally assigned to the first lady.

Trump transition aides are already planning for an "Office of the First Family," in the East Wing where the current office of the first lady is located,
Melania Trump is still expected to play a role in the White House. However, Ivanka is expected to have a prominent slot as well. A source said she is likely to play the part of Washington hostess as well as advise her father on issues including family leave to climate change.

Anyone catch Trump's tweet about China?
Their "unpresidented" actions....

Haha
Loser.
Given the information that has subsequently been released about the incident, one does wonder if Trump is even taking in any of the information he's recieving in the PDB's.

Donald J. Trump said:
"We should tell China that we don't want the drone they stole back.- let them keep it!"
Why on Earth would he say such a thing? What purpose does it serve?

He's disowned it. After all, it is "unpresidented"!
Has he disowned it? I'm gullible (yet skeptical )

Sure, that submarine was just testing ocean conditions ...

Assuming it has military applications, why the hell would Trump say let them keep it - so they can reverse-engineer it and make boatloads of drone submarines? I'm assuming they haven't had time to properly reverse-engineer it. But under Trump's scenario, he is setting up a perfect opportunity.

That's the news to me, not that "Trump slams China."

Trump urges China to keep U.S. military property
or
Trump to China: Keep stolen drone, we don't want it
or
Trump: Cede secret U.S. military technology to China

His response is something you might expect from a 5-year-old. "I didn't want it anyway." And I don't know if this is actually secret technology, but it is U.S. military property, and he seems to completely miss the obvious problem with China keeping it. Would he really do this as president? If the design specs are classified he is encouraging foreign espionage. Again :jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp !!! And I never use that smiley!

What an idiot. What an idiot. I'm sorry. I have to let this go. The only consolation is that Trump makes so much damn noise that there is no signal to have a ratio with. If Nixon had suggested this it would have been seen as a hostile move toward the USSR.

Yup, that's the way to do it, be a five year old.

What kind of precedence (or do I mean presidence) does that send?
Come and take what you want, we don't care.

AFAIK this drone is civilian and do not contain any military secrets. Some people (yeah, I know :P) speculate it is part of retaliation for Taiwan shenanigans.

Trump's tweet is still moronic, of course.

At least it's just a tweet, and not the official US position, like the Red Line was, or the Benghazi video.

But whatever. We're well beyond the era where losing face is a real problem for some people.

It still matters. Barack Obama says he agonized about Syria and I believe him. I'm really unsure why the U.S. government initially blamed the video maker for the attack. It doesn't make any difference to me whether the video was a factor; this was terrorism either way.

Trump is always going to deny that he is losing face (if he even knows what the term means). Obama I think can admit it. Hillary, I'm not sure. She gives well-rehearsed comments about having made mistakes. The part I doubt is what those mistakes are in her mind. Setting up the private server? Deleting personal emails? Leaving behind enough evidence to (it turns out) undermine the entire Democratic Party?

Trump, on the other hand, doesn't understand that he can make mistakes. That 5 p.m. tweet Saturday - what the hell? And all the likes and shares? Hillary or Obama would have instantaneously grasped the problem with the tweet. Trump apparently has to have it explained to him. That's my issue. Not that politicians say dumb things they later regret. But that Trump doesn't understand why it's dumb in the first place and is incapable of regret.

The Benghazi attack I meant. Forgot to include that word.

I suspected you were conflating two seperate events.

I really wish we could have somehow averted the huge loss of life in Syria. Yet at the same time, I would likely have opposed the US getting involved in yet another land war in the Mideast.

Yet it seems that perhaps something could have been done, and I can see why Obama agonizes over it. You don't draw "red lines" and then sheepishly fail to act when crossed. That's how a country loses credibility.

It's like threatening a company with huge tariffs if they outsource work and then giving that same company huge tax credits so they won't outsource as much as they said they would.

Make all the excuses you want.

You voted for a childish narcissist. Maybe you did so because you thought the alternative was worse. I suppose that could be forgiven. However, you voted for a childish narcissist.

A tweet like that is just embarrassing.
