President Trump

No, he's not. What amazes me is that when asked how he was going to perform these miracles, his answer was essentially "trust me" That's like believing "the check is in the mail" and "I promise sweetie, I'll pull out".

I understand wanting to trust people, but I know actually doing it is moronically gullible.
They already know it's a loser being on your side, no possible way their situation would get better voting for your side. Where do you think they're going to go?

Losing on our side? Surely, ye jest. George W put the country and millions of people so far I the hole it was absurd. Turning to a con man who has spent a lifetime cheating people is like thinking you're going to cool off by running into a burning building. But hey, the poor and middle class are use to getting screwed by the rich.

I'd be the first to admit Obama didn't do enough. But it's not like the Republicans let him. We'll see how they feel when their health care is taken from them.

That budget is what keeps you from speaking Farsi
What could your country possibly do to protect itself? You're welcome!!

I think what keeps most people from speaking Farsi is a lack of interest or learning ability, actually. Iran would not be taking over America even if we had a third of our current military.

On a related note, I took Russian in high school, and have been brushing up on it now that Putin got his puppet elected. You may want to consider learning Russian, as Trump isn't smart enough to out-maneuver a former KGB spy.

WOW!! This is NUTS!! Hillary has 2.5 million more votes than Trump and America has to get screwed because of a few thousand voters in PA, Michigan and Wisconsin?

This is really crazy.

But again, understandable. If the US wasn't a federation, proportional votes would probably have been the way they'd do it. Obviously they didn't want the smaller states' voices to be lost in the loud shouting of the larger ones. This doesn't mean the system is perfectly balanced, of course.

However, the difference in number of votes is a tad high. Perhaps, as was discussed earlier, removing the winner-take-all systems of the individual states and going proportional by state would be better.

I'm afraid we would have the same results if it was done by Congressional districts because of Gerrymandering. I haven't look at it this this year but 2 years ago Democratic Congressional candidates received more than 2 million votes, yet there is a 30 seat Republican majority. The rural state compromise has gone too far.

I really meant by state. If a state gets 60% votes for the GOP then the GOP gets 60% of that state's EV.
I'm sorry, I was thinking how Nebraska and Maine do it which is by Congressional District and whomever has the most votes overall Statewide win the 2 votes that represent the Senate seats.

I like your idea better though.

This may not be the way you were thinking but it would be along those lines. How does this sound? Small States would still have an advantage, but it would definitely be smaller.
Expand the EC by a factor of 100.(Although eliminate electors...that really isn't needed any more) IE: Washington State has 12 Electoral votes, in the new system they would have 1200. Montana would have 300. The number of votes would be awarded proportionally. Get 66 percent of the votes in Alabama, you get 66 percent of the Electoral votes from your individual State.

Advantages would be Presidential campaigns would have to be national campaigns. No more kowtowing to only swing states and ignoring the rest of the country. It would rejuvenate the interest in the election for say Republican voters in California and Democratic voters in Alabama.

Possibly. Do you have any ideas how to solve it? (for the sake of argument)
Get rid of the EC and the US Senate and eliminate Gerrymandering. Geography shouldn't be an advantage. A vote is a vote is a vote.

Yes, if we're to keep it democratic, skipping the EC entirely and determining it mathematically sounds like a good idea, and multiplying the EV means you can make proper assignations.

I agree.
