President Trump

I just gave you specifics, you want to argue air, water, and food. I'm talking about things government does that hurt business directly.

Another one would be, if I'm logging on a property with a stream there is a buffer of between 75 and 250 ft. The government doesn't want me driving my skidder in those areas, they want me to drag the trees that meet harvesting requirements out of those stream buffer areas. Ideally I could back up to those logs, lift them and drag them out. Now I have to take much more time and effort dragging those logs hundreds of feet, not to mention the trench it creates dragging without one end off the ground.

How about having a tax code so large it takes a team of accountants to figure it out, not to mention the mistakes that are made.
Frankly if you're not in business, you're not going to understand these things.

I know a guy that drags logs out of diffjcult places with a team of horses. He drinks in the Anchor. He contracts for the Forestry Commission in North Yorkshire. Some restrictions in the National Park won't allow certain logging methods.

When Hurricane Fran ripped through Durham and Orange counties here in NC it knocked down (with straight line winds) vast numbers of trees in the extensive private forest Duke University owns here and operates as research land.

They left some of them as they fell, so they could study the effects of that sort of damage under controlled circumstances, but there were far too many to apply to that purpose, and for various reasons needed to be cleaned up and thinned out.

They didn't want to cut a network of logging roads throughout the property, which would have been necessary if traditional methods were used. So they came up with an approach that wasn't very commonly seen around here. They set up prep spots in different places around the forest and limbed the trees designated for removal and rigged them for hauling out with a heavy lift helicopter. They'd get a bunch ready and then send in the crane.

Something like this;

(Not a shot of the actual project. But it gets the idea across. We don't have any snow-capped mountains here in Durham County. More's the shame. :( They did use an Erickson Sky-Crane like the one in the photo.)

It was absolutely hypnotizing to watch. I got a ringside seat from the shoulder of a road I drove home on daily from work that overlooked some of the property being logged out.

It was like watching a gargantuan mechanical bumble bee dipping down into the treeline for a couple of seconds and then popping back up with a load of logs dangling beneath, streaking over to a collection site and releasing them, and then shooting back to another spot for more. Mesmerizing.

In spite of the considerable cost of using this sort of process as opposed to more conventional techniques my understanding is that they managed to make money off of the whole thing.

Not as much as rampaging through the forest with no regard for the ecosystem, but a profit nonetheless.

Banking regulations could be scaled way back, but if an entity fails it shouldn't be bailed out. That would bring up many other things that need to be addressed too.
I don't have to do emissions, I'm a farm. ;)
.

And if you poison the water of those down stream of you not your problem either. Just like if someone upstream poisoned your water, then that is your problem not theirs.

I don't think the elderly are worried about republicans purging them. Your Obamacare has helped them see what the left wants to do with them.

And the republican plan is to shift all of them into Obamacare. No more medicare it is to the exchanges for all of them. Because how else to purge them but move them into a system they know doesn't work?

Or is Obamacare now suddenly better than Medicare now that Ryan is all for it?

[Obamacare Derangement Syndrome Talking Point #6]

DEATH PANELS !!!!11!!!!!1!!!!!1

At least with Ryancare we will finally be replacing Medicare with death panels. Sorry private insurance review boards.

I just figured out what he's gonna do.

He'll get everyone in place exactly as Pence wants it. Trump will be inaugurated on Jan 20, 2017. Trump will resign the presidency on Jan 21, 2017. He'll go back to his business (for which he never got around to setting up a blind trust), have lots of cronies in Washington, and sit back and gloat about how he played the country.

That's the theory of one of my friends, who contends that Trump is the "puppet" of some shadowy group.

I don't know. Quitting doesn't seem like Trump.

In less than two months he'll be the most powerful man on Earth (Damn. Just typing that halted my breath a bit). Why would he go away from that right away?

That budget is what keeps you from speaking Farsi
What could your country possibly do to protect itself? You're welcome!!
It takes a military budget bigger than the next twelve put together to prevent you from learning Farsi? As a patriot you should abstain from learning Farsi at no cost to your country.

Why would Trump quit, unless Congress cracks down on his money-making schemes?

Of course it is, the budget isn't intended to give us a military needed for defense, but to wage offensive multi front war against more than one of the other most powerful militaries in the world.

Of course the military would really like to have more speakers of Farsi as well.

No, it does not. Iran...where they speak Farsi is hardly a threat to the US. You simply cannot be serious. The US maintains more than 800 military bases in 70 countries. Yet my research cannot find a single Iranian military base outside Iran. Maybe I'm missing something?

Our military budget is bloated and invites interventions abroad. The American people would be far better off cutting that budget by up to 50% over ten years and funneling it into desperately needed infrastructure at home.

I heard on NPR this morning that President Elect Trump will be having a press conference on 12 Dec 2016 to detail his plans to remove himself from his companies before his inauguration.

Should be interesting.

What short of selling them and placing the proceeds in a blind trust would accomplish that? We're talking about buildings with his name plastered on them. You can't pretend you don't know what property you own.
