President Trump

This would be the same guy who said that it's "pitchforks and torches time" if Trump lost the election, but now complains about people who protest against Trump.

Steve S

That's a perfectly consistent position.

He's a lunatic. He doesn't just complain but draws basically word for word from the fascist's playbook.

"How to stop riots. 1)Declare state of emergency.2)Impose early curfew. 3)Mobilize Nat Guard.4)Authorize ALL non lethal force. 5)Tear gas"

Meanwhile, his cabinet picks so far are basically a giant pack of bigots.

I don't know how you managed to notice that. They've been so subtle about it!

One wonders why they got rid of the lobbyists in the transition team at all, then. Maybe they weren't choosing conservative enough people.

The Jeff Sessions pick is mind boggling. Do you know how psychotically racist you had to be for 80's senators to deem you too racist? The committee that shot down Sessions for being too racist was chaired by Strom Thurmond. This was the Jesse Helms was still filibustering MLK day 80's and they found Sessions was too much for them.

Actually, quite a few people are. Because it's clearly correct.

Again, this is not like 2008. I voted for Obama then, but I can accept that many people voted for McCain, and that's a thoughtful choice. That's about policy agreement, and I'm a liberal. McCain was clearly fit, and prepared to serve the country.

There was precisely one good candidate in 2016, and it was Hillary Clinton. If you voted for Trump, you voted for an unfit, unprepared, unthoughtful, scam-running, sex-abusing white nationalist.

Those are basic facts.

Because he thinks that Trump would be good for the country, Clinton would be bad, and that violent protest blunts some of the power of the President. Arguably, it's hypocritical of him to denounce the anti-Trump protesters, but it's reasonably consistent.

Also, the anti-Trump protesters are not using pitchforks and torches, as far as I can tell. I haven't seen a single pitchfork.

Because from that point of view Trump should have won. Had he lost, it would have indicated shenanigans. But he didn't lose, therefore, no reason to protest.

Hypocrisy arises only if the two outcomes are viewed as equivalent on the "justifies protests" dimension. Supporting one candidate over another breaks the symmetry. (From their perspective.)
