Trump runs for POTUS/ Trumped Up! Part VII

Despite the fact that Trump construction has used Chinese steel (and aluminium)?

Yes!
That has absolutely nothing to do with the decision. These people live with frustration, anger, and fear. Trump says he has a solution. The vast, vast majority of Americans do not look at a candidate who is offering a solution and say "I will now gather information about this candidate and weigh it in a rational and logical manner. I will apply critical thinking skills to evaluate the candidate's proposals and plans. If the candidate shows any history of doing the exact opposite of what he's or she is promising right now, I will discard the candidate."

This board sometimes is just a large echo chamber. By frequently talking to people who assert that critical thinking is the best approach possible, it is easy to forget how rarely the electorate uses critical thinking skills to pick a candidate. 1

(1) and I am not trying to act superior when I point out that much of the electorate does not apply critical thinking to the task of selecting a candidate. There are posters on this very board who use at least some level of emotionality in selecting and defending a candidate.

People on this forum don't use critical thinking quite as often as they like to think.

Love the dis-invite to the Trumpistas - private event, not open to the public. "Look, you guys are useful idiots but surely you don't think we allow YOUR kind in our luxury properties? We'll see you out to the barbecue pit later, now leave this to your betters."

You know what I think of Donald Trump, but "Invitation Only" is standard for these types of events.
I just hope that Donnie has restrained his usual bad taste and not ruin the Old Post Office Building, one of the more interesting buildings in DC.

Politico reports that FLorida is rapidly becoming out of Donald's reach. And...surprise...the lack of a ground game is a major reason.

And he won't believe it. Another yuge crowd in Tampa. 15,000, with a thousand waiting outside (according to the local press, not a spokesliar).

Several of those folks might actually be from Florida and registered to vote.

A lot of them could be. Extreme candidates attract extremely devoted supporters, they just repel more voters.

I think the point being made was how bad the Trump campaign was when it came to a ground game, and how few new voters the GOP has registered compared to the Democrats. The lack of a ground game might well kill Donald in the Swing States.

And Rance Pribus,RNC head, will hold a private teleconference with RNC members tomorrow. Going to be interesting since, 'Off the record" many RNC members have made clear their anger with Pribus for his refusal to shift funds from the collapsing Trump campaing to the congressional fund.

No interest in this story? From the link:

Undercover reporters posing as consultants acting for a Chinese benefactor approached specific pro-Trump and pro-Clinton fundraisers and groups after receiving information that individuals were involved in hiding foreign donations.

Sources also said PACs, “independent” organisations that can raise unlimited sums of money to lobby for or against particular candidates, were being used to circumvent rules.

The pro-Clinton organisations did not respond to initial approaches. But earlier this month an undercover reporter spoke by telephone to Eric Beach, co-chairman of the pro-Trump Great America PAC, which has the backing of Rudy Giuliani, one of Mr Trump’s most senior advisers, as well as the billionaire's son Eric.

Mr Benton said the $2 million, for which he would submit an invoice for “appearances” would “definitely allow us to spend two million more dollars on digital and television advertising for Trump.” The Chinese benefactor's generosity would be “whispered into Mr Trump’s ear.” He said he had previously helped US donors conceal donations.

And this, boys and girls, is why PACs suck. And obviously some suck more than others.

Alex Jones offers a intelligent, well argued, logical, fact based reason for Voting for Trump

IF WE DON"T WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!

It's déjà vu all over again from the same-sex marriage debate. It's the end of the USA! It's the end of our culture! It's the end of western civilization! God's going to punish us! Or, sometimes, God's going remove his protections!

By now, at least for me, all I've got for them is a great big yawn. BFD. Couldn't care less. Ho-hum. :s2:

You learn so much from their schedules, sometimes. Tonight there's a standing room only rally (because they're not putting up chairs) in the cow pasture next to the Tallahassee Automobile Museum.
From the quote:
This was a celebrated time during the 1960’s, 70’s, and 80’s.
I think that's the first time I've seen the 60s, 70s and 80s cited as the Good Ole Days. Nostalgia just isn't what it used to be. :)

Donald halts big-money fundraising, cutting off cash to the party

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has effectively shut down his high-dollar fundraising operation for the rest of the campaign,*a highly unusual move that deals another serious blow to the GOP's effort to finance its get-out-the-vote operation before Election Day.

Steven Mnuchin, Trump's national finance chairman, said in an interview with The Washington Post on Tuesday that Trump Victory, a joint fundraising committee between the party and the campaign, held its last formal fundraiser on Oct. 19. The luncheon was in Las Vegas on the day of the final presidential debate.

“We’ve kind of wound down,” Mnuchin said. “But the online fundraising continues to be strong.”

While Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is headlining her last fundraiser Tuesday night in Miami, her campaign has*scheduled 41 other events between now and Nov. 3 featuring high-profile surrogates such as her daughter, Chelsea, running mate Tim Kaine and the entertainer Cher, according to a schedule sent to donors this weekend.

Frankly, that's kinda lame. I'll bet everyone on this board has an emotional linkage to their chosen candidate. I'll bet there aren't five voters who don't have some emotional involvement in their candidate selection. We are, after all, not innately rational beings; it takes a lot of effort to exercise rational thinking in daily living, much less on decisions with national and international implications.

I got together with 5 friends and we spent 2-3 hours just going over the 17 California propositions. Some had unanimous views, others not so much. I'll bet that my friends and I put more effort into making our voting decisions than 99.9% of Californians. With all that, I know some (most? all?) of my decisions contained an emotional component.
