Trump runs for POTUS/ Trumped Up! Part VII

It may be an unavoidable, visceral reaction, but it's not, I think, a fit state to dwell in. I wouldn't pursue the ammunition analogy too far, but I feel that maintaining hatred is like firing wastefully at a distant target. Hate depletes you.

Seems to me that even an evil man has to have at least some modest stature, some substance before he can rise to the level of being hated: A killer, a destroyer, a warmaker, at least. But -- Tronald Dump? That flabby bag of sh

wind? That bluffer, that semi-retarded excuse for a capitalist boss? That ready-for-nothing?

Nah. Just doesn't work for me. Maybe if he was scarier; we always hate somebody who frightens us.

From what I've read, he raped and pulled clumps of hair out of his wife's scalp because a doctor she recommenced for his scalp reduction didn't meet his standards. She revealed this in brutal detail, but later stepped back from the testimony, almost certainly as the result of intimidation from Trump and his equally despicable lackey's. During the trial, Trumps sickening lawyer argued that a wife can legally be forced to be sexually penetrated against her will. This is just one, small example of how this individual treats those he deems vulnerable. He's more than eligible for my hate.

No, it won't. Maybe Gore in 2000. There's is an article on 538 today about the possibility of Truman vs Dewey repeat. It's pretty interesting.

I'm sorry. I didn't express myself well enough, I guess.

I wasn't talking about the chances of a major news source calling it wrong because of misjudging polling statistics. I was talking about a reluctance to even chance jumping the gun enough to let that happen.

When they call it it will already be over. For sure, not for maybe.

I imagine that Donald's lawyer informed him that there is no chance whatsoever that he could win a libel lawsuit.
Such a lawyer wouldn't be employed by Trump for very long. It's far more likely that his lawyers would say "we'll get right on that," then do nothing while waiting for him to forget and come back with his next half-assed idea for a lawsuit.

I think hating Trump is the only healthy reaction.

Absolutely not. Hatred is simply not healthy no matter the target.

I have no illusion that you will be changed by this post but I am clear that hatred is not good for the nation, nor ISF, nor this thread. In a way, you're like Trump: you're your own worst enemy.

Just finished the debate - on my iPhone while camping with Karen.

Van Jones just said on CNN that you can't polish a turd.

I was a Republican, and the Republicans should be ashamed at what they offered up this time around. They deserve to be soundly beaten.

I hope they can recover, but I'm not holding my breath.

They will recover. They still control both houses of Congress and most State Houses.

Aren't the networks prohibited from calling the election until the polls close on the West Coast which is, I presume, 9:00PM PDST. So I guess the announcement of the projected winner will be at...oh about 9:00:30PM PDST? ;)

I think we switch back to regular time the weekend before the election.

I still don't feel much hatred for Schlumpf. There's not enough there to hate.

But as with all candidates, you have to evaluate the people, and the kind of people, that he'll bring with him. I ask you, what sort of guys are ready to work in a D. Trumpf executive? Crazed rightists and religious fanatics, yes, but way more coolly dirty cynics and crooks, even mobsters. A crew of wreckers and thieves that would dismay Harding's Ohio Gang or Nixon's corruptors. Slimy bosses, greed-drunk capitalists, grabbers, blackshirted gangsters that would appal Mussolini -- bah! hawk! patooie! I've pecked enough letters!

Guys like that you can hate with a clear conscience.

Ballots get counted very fast these days. They are going to call a lot of states within minutes of the polls closing. The question is how close will Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin and Nevada will be. If Florida and Pennsylvania and Ohio are called early for Hillary they may jump the gun because no one is going to get the west coast wrong.
