I don't think I've ever hidden my absolute hatred for Curt Schilling. If not only because he's a moron, in my opinion, but also because he ate up a lot of money for a failed video game. Apparently, he's going to take on Elizabeth Warren for the Senate, not even pretending to start out small.

As for Warren, 67, she's in her first term in the Senate. In 2012, she defeated Scott Brown with 53.7 percent of the vote and in doing so became the first woman from Massachusetts to serve in the U.S. Senate. Earlier this year, Warren registered a 61 percent approval rating.

From what I can piece together he's basically going to run on a platform of, "Hey, remember that one time my ankle bled, but I still won a game. I can do that for you!"

I'm willing to bet that he'll get his ass handed to him.

ETA: This isn't until 2018, but I'll never pass up a chance to make fun of a Red Sox player.

"If Donald Trump gets to be a low-information, low-character candidate for President, why can't I be a low-information, low-character candidate for Senator?

He's probably telling himself he's the next Scott Brown. Why are baseball players the dumbest athletes?

Hey! To be fair, there are dumb football players too!

Yeah, though. I can't imagine in what world he thinks he can beat her, especially given her approval rating and recent popularity within the Senate (pictures of her carrying Dunkin Donuts to the sit in).

Curt Shilling? Nah. If it were David Ortiz, who knows?

He'd probably win this year anyway. The mob is fickle.

That being said, I really miss Derek Jeter and would easily vote for him over either of the boobs we have running this year.

The funny thing is that the GOP is probably stupid and crazy enough to nominate him. Donald Trump won the MA primary by over 31 points.

Wake me up when Dennis Rodman is running for something. Actually, just let me sleep.

Democratic strategy for Massachusetts in 2018:
1 - Get the Republicans to nominate Curt Schilling
2 - Let Curt Schilling speak everywhere and anywhere.

Possibly. The problem, I suppose, is that the Massachusetts GOP actually has primaries. Elizabeth Warren was simply chosen to be the Democratic nominee by the powers-that-be. If there had been a primary process, she would likely have lost because of the whole faux Native American thing.

The only people who care about that are Republicans.

Then how did she win the general election if that was such a big deal?

Well, the old Scott Brown got shellacked at the voting booth last time, and now he's a Trumptard.

So basically neither the old nor the new Scott Brown has a shot.

Uh, no.

That is a non-issue.

It's a very blue state. For the most part, we do not elect Republicans to federal office. We do occasionally elect Republicans to be governor because we actually care about the state economy. The national one, not so much.

Misleading, to get on the US Senate Democratic primary ballot in Massachusetts a candidate needs to get at least 15% of the vote at the convention. Only one person besides Warren threw their hat in the ring and she, Marisa DeFranco, got less than 15% so was not on the ballot. In the most recent US Senate race their where two candidates that met the 15% threshold so there were two candidates on the primary ballot.

So it's a state that wouldn't nominate someone because of a particular issue but will happily elect that person in spite of that particular issue?

Football players aren't that dumb. And even if they were, they at least have head trauma as an excuse. Curt Schilling is not an anomaly among pro baseball players.
