Trump runs for POTUS/ Trumped Up! Part VI

If this were any other politician, then I could see how this video might lead to his downfall. But Trump has weathered storm after storm, scandal after scandal, and this one just doesn't seem to be any worse than what has come before.
He does not have time to recover, like last time he went down in polls (that took 1.5 month). And he still has two debates. He is screwed.

I understand that the next debate is on foreign policy and there's been an amusing intervention from Russia, formally complaining to the UN about a speech criticising Trump.

Why Russia has done that, I don't know - surely they must know it would be counterproductive? And no, I don't think that it's reverse psychology, because Trump would make the Wrst weaker and thus Russia relatively stronger. We know that Putin believes in a zero-sum foreign-policy model.

Let's get to shovelling it into the air-conditioning, then. Never mind the quality, just get the stuff flying.

There is plenty of quality stuff. It wasn't as if they were skeletons in the closet - they were in the front room. which was more ominous and about as credible as Baron Frankenfurter's abode.

"Russia" didn't do it, Vitaly Churkin did, and he was specifically complaining about Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein's ramblings wasting everybody's time (again). Google it and you will just find a bunch of third class rags pontificating on the AP story which broke this.

Liverpool miss makes me hope that people listen to the commentator, look at themselves, realize Trump has said far worst, realize they supported him then, and so Trump wins in a landslide.

Oh some morons will. But not enough to save the Orange Creep. It's over. Women are turning on him and he can't get them back. (Not that he had many of them anyway) FYI: Reports are that women are swamping the Clinton campaign asking to volunteer.

He's Russia's Ambassador to the UN so unless you are suggesting he did this all by himself without instructions then yeah it was 'Russia' that complained. Trump is a racist who wants to strip people of their rights if he becomes president, its why the Russians are so fond of him.

I guarantee that Donald is incapable of understanding why this is a big deal. Yeah, he is capable of giving a really insincere apology that he read off a teleprompter after who knows how many takes, but when he is forced to address this live tomorrow, there is a very good chance that he will **** it up really badly.

Without direct contradiction from the Russian government (and probably an immediate recall), it is absolutely Russia. Fundamental to being an ambassador is that when such a person speaks they are speaking for the current government of their nation. Without that, they're not an ambassador at all.

It wasn't about Trump, it was about the High Commissioner on Human Rights "Prince" Zeid from the absolute monarchy Jordan not doing his job properly.

Next time Samantha Power throws a hissy, I'll blame it on "Amerika". :D

Yes, he isn't your ordinary immoral politician, he has no conception of morality. That's probably why he's sometimes made bizarre accusations because it's obvious to him that everyone would behave like him if they had the opportunity.

A colleague was chatting to me about the study of psychopaths and one researcher argues that the ones on the extreme have a non-human brain. It might fit Trump.

Honestly, I'm not sure I get why these latest revelations matter all that much.

Yes, Trump seems to be admitting to sexual assault and that's a very bad thing. And he has no respect for women or the sanctity of marriage, and that's all pretty bad, too.

But all of the things that he's said and done that are more obviously relevant to his ability to hold public office, to negotiate with others, to have basic empathy, all of these things that we've known for months just didn't matter. Instead, this video is the source of his downfall.

No matter. If this is what sinks his campaign, then that's good.

The big difference is that they have audio.

You're right Trump has done a hundred things before this that should have made people turn away from him. But this is the proverbial straw. At some point it's just too much.

But guess what? At least 35 percent of the people will still vote for this clown. They'll rationalize it somehow. But Presidential elections really have nothing to do with those people. It's the casual voter who decide these elections. That and turnout.

Clinton has led in the polls the entire way, but Trump supporters have been much more fervent and thought more likely to vote. The latest on Trump will likely depress Republican turnout and motivate Hillary voters.

Trump has to change the dynamic and fast but I don't see how he can do that. This story has legs and is likely to be the news for quite a while. Voting has already started. I expect my ballot next week and in the mail within 10 days.

You work the quality end, then, and I'll work the cheap and nasty. No point in spoiling a ship for a ha'porth of malice.

On the not unreasonable assumption that Trump's gradual advance was the result of Republican tribalism overcoming an initial repugnance, this could well shake all of that loose. Respected Republicans cutting loose with extreme prejudice serves to justify this in Republican eyes.

We shall see in the polls. An interesting experiment.

Of the Republicans who have abandoned him, how many, I wonder, are doing it because they're genuinely repulsed by the tape, and how many because they see the polls shifting south? I'm betting 95% the latter.

I only wish this surfaced 2 weeks from now. I can't imagine Trump quitting but there are a lot of things that have happened in my life that I couldn't imagine.

The number of Republicans heading for the exits and the number calling for him to quit seems to be growing exponentially. While Trump could care less about him, I have to wonder how he continues to campaign.

I see that 11 sitting Republican US Senators have publicly jumped ship.

Trump is done......and good riddance.

This has got to be great news for Gary Johnson. I'll bet he makes the cutoff polling point for the third debate.
