Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

Hence my item B above. But as usual the citation silence is deafening, and also a red herring.

The AP, logger? The 20 interviewees presenting a consistent narrative? Are all of those people "scumbag opportunists" as well?

Logger demonstrated once again the trump supporter's amazing superpower of deflecting any criticism of Teh Donald with playground quality strategery.

I'm sure he is just as skeptical when someone claims Hillary Clinton threw a hissyfit backstage or some such. Just another opportunist trying to get on the news.

Mentally? To myself? Yes.

In private conversations with personal friends? Sometimes.

In the workplace among professional colleagues? No way.

Exactly there are things that are inappropriate in the workplace, making loud sexual remarks about colleagues, or worse, subordinates, is a quick way to get fired in most places.

To the extent he implied your conclusion (I don't think he did, but arguably he confused the issue), he is wrong. The exemption for real estate development is an exemption from an exception to the passive activity rules for rental activity.

That is, the tax code penalizes people for losses in investments in which they did not materially participate as a business. People actively managing a business get full use of their deductions for business expenses and losses. However, the code makes clear that rental activity is usually a passive activity, even if you are the primary manager of your rental properties.

An exception to this, which makes perfect sense and is eminently fair, is that if your business is in fact renting and/or developing real estate, rental activity is not considered a passive activity. For Trump, renting real estate out is his business. He absolutely deserves to have all of the expenses and losses from that business be deemed ordinary deductions.
Plus the person who wrote the article apparently doesn't understand the meaning of line 11. It may be rental real estate but it may also be partnerships, S corps, Trusts etc.

By my read of the Trump tax return published by the New York Times, he would have been tax-free because of a $15,818,562 loss reported on Line 11 of the return under “Rental real estate, royalties, partnerships, S corporations, trusts, etc.It looks to me that this loss reflects the outrageous, special tax break that real estate developers that people like Trump can get, but that the rest of us can’t.

The rest of us are allowed that deduction if we are in the business of rental real estate. (The IRS calls it a Real Estate Professional). The rest of us are also allowed to claim losses related to rental real estate if our income is below 100,000 and the loss is less than 25,000 even if we are not in the business. Which is typical for a small investor.

This is not "an outrageous, special tax break" as the author calls it. This is a tax law to keep wealthy investors from being able to use large write offs from real estate tax shelters. As mentioned before anyone who is in the business of renting can claim their losses.

New York tells trump charity to stop soliciting funds.

Look like trump failed to register his "charity" and disclose financial documents.

Much more interesting, in my opinion, is that they have 15 days to present years of detailed tax documents, instead of the BS they've been feeding the state. Will be fun to watch.
And the most interesting is the question: what sort of moron runs for POTUS when he has all sorts of skeletons in the close (and attic, basement, and a few in the living room)?

God, Trump is on a roll........

Maybe he has seen the slapping scene in "Patton" once too often.
What makes me mad is the jerk never served a day in his life, and now he considers himself a expert of vets and their problem.

Well, he did go to that military-themed high school that gave him “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military.”*

*actual quote.

What are the chances those tax documents are covered on FOIA?

What a normal person would do in this situation is say "Not having served myself I can't begin to imagine what you've been through", or words to that effect, then make your pitch; instead this infantile jerk-off Trumpsplains PTSD to people who have served.

Definitely on a roll.

Lt Gen Michael Flynn has responded on behalf of the Trump campaign, and it begins :

"The media continues to operate as the propaganda arm of Hillary Clinton ..."
which will introduce every Trump campaign statement for the next 37(?) days, by order, so get used to it.

Most people (they take both types now) who go into the military have learnt more about the military from Guns and Ammo than Trump's ever known.

As the saying goes, when you're up to your bottom lip in excrement, don't make waves.

Trump's childish assumption of impunity has caught him out in a big way. At least this time it's not about the cover-up because there isn't one.

Which, of course, is what some think makes Hillary Clinton the more dangerous because her cover-up is faultless. It's easy when the media acts as your propaganda arm, and those global special interests have their fingers in a lot of pies.
