Presidential Debates

Best tweet (by an analyst at Princeton Elect. Consortium)

Decidedly Clinton-side supporter the morning after the debate.

Other than polls, focus groups, betting markets, financial markets, and downcast supporters, everything points to a big Trump win.

Baldwin really did a good impersonation of Trump. Mind you usually impersonation creates a caricature, in Trump's case that would be playing him as a normal person!

Trump said, "I agree with her on one thing. The single greatest problem the world has is nuclear armament, nuclear weapons, not global warming, like you think and your -- your president thinks. "

I forget the context but seeing this quote as a stand-alone I realize I don't even know what he is saying. "I agree with her on one thing" - nuclear weapons are the world's biggest problem. Yet in that same sentence he contradicts himself, saying the world's biggest problem is "not global warming, like you think."

This is just typical Trump, I know, but it shows how much you have to disengage your mind to listen to him. His points self-abort in mid-sentence.

The talk radio hosts I listen to during midnight road trips have written him off as any kind of positive force because he didn't stick with the "Emails! Clinton Foundation! Benghazi!" trinity. The hosts have just one thing left: Never Hillary. They really seem to be baffled by Trump's debate performance. If this trend holds for the next month it is going to be increasingly difficult to say anything positive about Trump. And when they see after a month that for whatever reason Hillary is the more effective communicator (hence leader), even some of the "never Hillary" message might bleed away.

Only - how did she know Trump pays no income tax? How much, if at all, did she help Alicia Camchado become a citizen? And how the heck did he not see this coming? Something had been in the news about Camchado that day, and yet his reaction - "where did you find her?" - was defensive, and his reaction to the tax statement essentially conceded her point. Both responses seemed to underscore the power that Clinton already wields. I can't see any win for him there though.

Machado.

Vicious attacks no me by the failing SNL which, by the way, nobody even watches anymore and I did them a favor by appearing and i think the got their best rating, probably their best ever, because i went on the show, and this is what i get for helping them, and everyone said it was the best show. I won the debate, you can ask twitter, and anyway who wants to see has-been Daniel Baldwin doing, i mean when last was he, look, maybe it was on purpose. Lorne Michaels won't be getting any more, and he's probably mexican.

ETA: Not me, I mean Trump. My name is Baron. Trump did all those things.

She most likely didn't. In the debate, it was one reason of many that she suggested could be the reason he doesn't release his returns. It's a reasonable guess, nothing more than that.

Okay, yes, I suppose it's conceivable that she knows something that violates the confidentiality laws, but there's no evidence at all for that. The fact that she guessed he doesn't pay taxes doesn't take much insight.

My recollection is that she was referring to a couple of old tax returns that were required to be released when he was applying for a casino license. He responded "That makes me smart."

If I were Clinton in the next debate I'd walk on stage with a box of tissues and a bottle of water and toss them to Trump with a "Here. You'll need them.".

If his head didn't blow off his shoulders he'd be too flustered for anything else.
