Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

He lost $800 million in exchange for a 40% probability of becoming President of the United States. That's a pretty good trade for a billionaire I think.
I don't think he would trade $800m for winning. If someone had offered him that to drop out, he probably would have taken it.

Every nurse in this country, every doctor, every social worker has violated workplace laws. That is the field I am most familiar with. I believe you'd find the same thing in any industry.

Well, I'm a Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor and in my "industry" pilots get charged with "workplace violations" with some regularity.

So you think Trump considers becoming President a business opportunity?!?

What's the point of having billions of dollars unless you do something with the money? They're just numbers on a piece of paper until you spend them. But what are you going to spend a billion dollars on? There's only so much caviar you can eat and so many mansions you can sleep in and so many Gulfstream jets you can fly around in. The only point of becoming a billionaire is that you have enough money to acquire power - power to effect change, power to get millions of people to listen to you and follow you, power to make a name for yourself that will be remembered for generations. For a narcissist like Trump, which would you rather have? $4.5 billion and just be one of a thousand billionaires or $3.7 billion and be President of the United States? Frankly, I think it makes sense to trade all of your money to become President. Being an ex-President is probably worth a billion dollars in perquisites all by itself. Do you think Bill Clinton pays for anything? He can have anything he wants. His prestige is his currency.

No now I'm reading he said he was endorsed by ICE, but they're a government agency that doesn't ever endorse.

WTF?

I believe it was actually the union that represents the employees that work for ICE. The Hatch Act wasn't violated.

You just described the perfect dictator. Dude, seriously. WTF?

You're talking about a guy that is so greedy he scammed thousands of people with his fake university and used his "charitiy's" money to settle legal disputes, buy portaits of himself, buy very overpriced Tim Tebow helmets, and buy a state AG.

@sun

You labor under the false impression that he spent that money on the campaign: he hasn't.
Most of Trump's self-funding is a loan to his campaign that he will get back from the donations. And it's only a few million.

He lost 800million because his business is not doing well and he is overleveraged.

I doubt I labor under any false impressions. I'm pretty sure he lost $800 million because of the ill will he has engendered from his (so far) successful campaign for President. Here is a list of business he lost due to his campaign as of last December.

Nope, he lost it mainly because the real estate value of his NY properties is falling.
This is a huge problem since they are all leveraged.

I hope he keeps losing business.
He needs to have his entire "empire" crumble to dust.

I'm talking Navin R Johnson stuff. Anything else will not be justice for what he's put us through.

And maybe, just maybe reality TV can die.

Trump the brilliant businessman lost $800 million net worth last year according to Forbes.

But Trump has in the past valued his "brand" at $3.5 billion, or $6 billion, or whatever, depending on his mood. Since his brand is now worth approximately zero, by his logic he has lost those billions in addition to any tangible losses.

Why is leverage a problem? Real estate is meant to be leveraged. Also, unlike with security loans, real estate assets are almost never marked-to-market. If you make the payments on time, you don't have to worry about being underwater.

Of course, we know that Donald has had problems in the past making payments on his properties.

In any case: here is another fat, deliberate lie from Trump that goes to heart of his credibility: he doesn't have 10billion, not by any definition.

For Trump it has been a problem in the past e.g. his bankruptcy of his Atlantic City casino fiasco.
