Corbyn's days (very) numbered?

What indeed? As you can see I'm still waiting for a reply to the points I made, which have nothing to do with stating that all governments are the same as the Nazis. Manifestly they ere not, and I don't intend to be distracted by the absurd suggestion that they are.

He attended an event where the official programme stated that “force of arms is the only method capable of bringing about a free and united Socialist Ireland.”

One doesn't attend such an event if one doesn't support the armed struggle.

You are not going to get recordings or transcripts of speeches from fringe events attended by someone who was an unimportant backbencher in a time before the internet.
who is backing the rebels in Syria at the moment?
who is defending the state?

Force of arms WAS the method of bringing about the Northern Ireland Peace Process. Do you think we'd have a Northern Ireland government with Sinn Fein members and McGuiness as Deputy First Minister were it not for the efforts of the IRA?

Why condemn Corbyn for attending meetings where the programme supported the IRA unless you're also prepared to condemn all the 'mainstream' politicians of the day who negotiated with the IRA's political wing?

I know you are asking someone else, but I'd say that his support for the IRA, Hamas and Hezbollah will kill him in the General Election. All the Tories need to do is tell the broader public some of his quotes about the IRA closer to the election and that will be electoral annihilation

His enthusiasm to investigate British squaddies from Iraq and Afghanistan probably will have more influence

Again, that's a change of subject from the earlier discussion, which was about
... If he wants to demonstrate that he can appeal to the electorate, what does he expect they will see when he refuses to say 'yes, if you are talking about their campaign of terror' to the question 'do you condemn what the IRA did. He is just massively incompetent, and the Tories will be able to ask the electorate if they want a man who refuses to condemn the IRA. Labour annihilation.
It is possible to believe that armed struggle has been required to overthrow the old N Ireland regime, and at the same time to condemn terrorism, and deplore violence against civilians.

This was indeed the position of the rebels in Dublin a century ago.
We place the cause of the Irish Republic under the protection of the Most High God, Whose blessing we invoke upon our arms, and we pray that no one who serves that cause will dishonour it by cowardice, inhumanity, or rapine.
So it is perfectly in order, when Irish nationalists assert that armed struggle is necessary, to point out to them that even if that is true, "inhumanity or rapine" remain both unnecessary and deplorable; and we have Pearse and Connolly and the others, rising as it were from their tombs, to tell us so.

Wow! This Corbyn sounds like an impressive guy who would make a great Prime Minister - the sort of tonic that would cure many of the ills suffered by the UK.

What on earth makes you think that ?

Most of his policies seem to be some kind of throwback - indeed he still seems to be fighting the class war from the 1970's

I think the UK needs a strong dose of what Corbyn has to offer to set it right. It's time the rich people in the UK loose a bit of influence and re-learn a bit of humility. For too long the UK government has been owned by The City - and it's time for this to change.

And what is this ?

Euroscepticism with all that means for the loss of workers' and environmental protections ?

An approach to addressing international crises which appears to be to attempt (but fail) to engage all parties in talks until one side makes the issue moot by winning the armed struggle ?

How about passing the cost of educating students from those who will actually benefit (the students) to the general working population - the less well off

Then Corbyn's not your man, not only is he from that same privileged class that you're so strongly opposed to, he's going to attempt to fight them using techniques which are 40 years out of date.

How about just taxing the rich? The rich benefit from everyone's education.

Also, it doesn't appear that Corbyn thinks too much of the military-Industrial Complex, either. Good! About time these cretins got a financial haircut.

People hate Crobyn because he dares make the world better for the majority - and not just a few priviliged rich people.

Yes, he will. However, empty words are easy if you judge that an event is massively unlikely. If Russia invaded Lithuania then Theresa May's UK would *not* intervene militarily, no matter what waffle she might spew for public consumption.

Bollocks - invasion of a NATO and EU member, and Theresa "yes, I'll use nukes" May does nothing?

July 3, 2016 by: Richard Milne in Vilnius
Lithuania has welcomed Nato plans to dispatch troops close to the Russian border as the beginning of a new policy of deterrence against Moscow

Although British troops won't be in Lithuania they will be in Estonia which is more exposed to Russia.

Many labour supporters hate Corbyn/Milne/McDonnel because they are an utter mess.

This is not how you manage a headline-grabbing policy change:

https://www.politicshome.com/news/u...ive-lewis-trident-speech-changed-seumas-milne

Shadow Defence Minister finds his speech has been changed without his agreement minutes before he is due to speak.

This is why MPs don't have confidence in Jeremy Corbyn; even if they agree a policy with him, Corbyn's inner circle will then change it without discussion.

So what? They send a token amount of troops and then beat their chests and declare they have kept Estonia and Lithiuania free of Russians. Baloney. If Russia goes HAM these token troops will be ground to dust. But...Russia doesn't want to go HAM on Estonia or Lithuania so it's really a moot point. To insist that Lithuania or Estonia are in danger of a Russian invasion is laughable.

Likewise, if the Russians wanted the Ukraine - they'd just take it all any time that was convenient for them and NATO would do nothing. But Russia doesn't want all the Ukraine - just the small parts with Russians in it. So they don't invade 95% of the Ukraine. There is no deterrence in this case and it's a fools game to think there is.

just a bunch of blowhard Warhawk politicians playing at war....and I've been see this all my life. Forever I've been hearing about the Big Bad Russians and how they are going to invade us and take away our freedoms - and out TV Sets and Badminton Shuttlecocks and gang-bang the Rose Bowl queen after they chicken-fry every Bald Eagle in North America. It's a fairy tale. It's a fairy tale to scare people to get more money for the arms makers and arms dealers - and to get mpore toys for the Admirals and generals so they can go to a third-world country and play war and pretend they are defending all that is good and righteous and holy. It's crazy.

Tax the rich is about as cogent a policy as 'build a wall'.

For Military Industrial Complex read tens of thousands of workers losing their jobs when Corbyn cuts defence spending. Oh and how are those companies going to pay taxes since they are either out of business or out of the country? As for the bosses, they'll shrug and find somewhere willing to do business, probably a place with far fewer rules on the treatment of employees and who they can sell their weapons too.

Nope I hate him because we went through the same thing with Michael Foot(though Corbyn lacks Foot's intellect) in the 80s, and look what a great outcome that produced.

Yes.

With respect to the highlighted part - Foot did have integrity as well. Even if Corbyn does have integrity, he doesn't mind fellow travellers who lack it.
