Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

Tell that to his blindly partisan supporters today and they will believe you.

Yeah have a mention about the blind partisans supporting a corrupt politician like madam hillary. Or I suppose she has no blind partisans, at least more than Bernie had.

Actually, I'm laughing even harder at the notion that Islam is "taking over" this country.

It's fear. It's raw fear. Fortunately, the USA has the Constitution which limits the powers of Religion.Islamic law can no more be instituted than can Christian law.

When all you have left is emotion, just spread fear: 'The muslims are coming!'

I like to call myself a 'conservatives nightmare'. I'm a legal resident Alien of the United States of America. To put it in words that the hard right can understand: 'I'm a ferriner! A ferriner with a job! A job I stole from a good god fearing conservative patriotic 'merican!' However, since I am not a muslim, I can't be a conservatives worst nightmare.

Or, "weak guy" Obama underreacts to Russian jets buzzing US naval vessels, emboldening them and leading to more and more examples until one day things escalate into a confrontation; is that far-fetched?....
Yes, far fetched. Iran is not stupid enough to think the US couldn't squash it like a bug, and, if things began to escalate, Obama would almost certainly have an increasingly yet still measured response.

The idea we have to pummel some idiots for flipping off the US is ignorantly immature at best.

Well, the text I quoted and responded to was about Russian jets buzzing US warships.

I'm not dissing restraint. But taken too far it has its own risks.

If Russian pilots knew there was a high risk of being shot down, do you think they'd be so flippant about their little goads?

Back to Iran, opposing navies should know, especially since the Cole, that coming too close to a US warship is a very dangerous proposition.

Right now, it seems like "poking the bear" has become a sport - a way of showing bravado with little or no risk or danger. And that may be more dangerous in the long run than quick and deliberate action against any and all threats.

I agree. And Trump takes that fear and turns it into anger. At least his supporters don't feel fearful for a while. Just ticked off. Getting angry can be cathartic but it's not a good long-range solution. For anything.

Russia is also not stupid enough to start a war with the US.

A POTUS needs intelligence and experience dealing with Russia's pushing the envelope. Sanctions, upping NATO's presence, uniting countries against Russia using economic sanctions, those are going to be the most productive options.

Trump, OTOH, is either going to let his buddy get away with such maneuvers, or overreact and cause an international incident, all the while alienating our allies.

edited to add: In no way meant as support for Trump. Just pointing out that not doing anything about incidents or failing to follow through on threats (Red line in Syria, for instance) may carry risks of their own.

Are you suggesting that "confrontation" is a potential consequence of underreaction but not overreaction? On balance, it would seem an immediate overreaction would lead to confrontation a lot more often than prolonged underreaction.

I agree with most of the above.

Except the last part. Trump is too much of a wild card to predict - just another reason he should not be president.

What the hell do you suggest we do, declare WWIII because their pilots were provocative? You think nations haven't been "poking the bear" over the last 50 years?

Lol

Were fearful and ticked off.

Its hilarious to watch liberals label us. How about we just disagree with what the left is doing, that good enough for you?

Hard to imagine him outdoing idiot Obama.
